My fren is going to buy a gaming laptop but confused in the graphics card.
    Which one is powerful?

    1 Geforce 9800m GTX 1gb(No SLI) or 2X 8800m GTX SLi (512X2=1gb)?

SLI beats the living crap out of the 9800m GTX.

Assuming of course that SLI works.

SLI 8800M GTX will be more powerful than a single 9800M GTX. The cards (single 9800 vs single 8800) perform very similarly to each other, so two will do much better than one in this case.

But I guess there will be more performance on GTA 4 in 9800m gtx as it doesnot support sli and looks for more video memory?

Er no VRAM don't stack, so its still 512MB.

    Price? Size?

If he's looking for the pure gaming machine ignoring all the other factors, why not look into the Asus W90 with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2?

Not sure about GTA IV as I do not own the game.

if you want to play GTA 4 well, you need a quad core.

Also, imo don't go with dell if your getting a high end gaming laptop. They love to overprice the crap out of them with outdated products

Take a look at Clevo/Sager found on xoticpc.com

Processors have little effect on gaming performance, in any game. And if you configure both the Clevo D900C and the M1730 with SLI, the M1730 is slightly cheaper, however the Clevo has dual 9800M GTX's opposed to the M1730's dual 8800M GTX.

I know why, blind decision making. :)

Get the W90 with Crossfire 4870's.

GTA 4 has been said to be bottlenecked by the CPU in most cases.

    totally agree.

ATi is much better choice than nVidia atm.
