Im getting a new PC for my friend. Im getting him a HP dv9700t. Now i have a big problem with the GPU VRAM, etc.
If you get 2GB of RAM youll GPU will have a total of 1GB of VRAM
If you get 3GB of ram youll GPU will have almost 2GB.
But here are my options...
1:
---2GB RAM
1GB VRAM
Would need an upgrade to 3GB.
---3GB RAM
alost 2GB VRAM (one time chance)
Upgrade to 4GB needed AND 64-bit OS.
Im a little tight with money, so im not sure what to do here.

which GPU does it come with?

Shared VRAM doesn't do much. Only dedicated VRAM matters, and that's only up to a certain point.

Wish I could be your friend... Anyways, like Lithus said, see how much dedicated memory the GPU has... that's going to make the bigger difference.

Just curious, is there EVEN a laptop graphics card that allows you to have up to 2GB of VRAM (dedicated or shared)??? As far as I know there aren't any single graphics card that allows you to do that. Maybe if you have dual 8600GT then the TurboCache can go up to 2GB.... But I don't think 9700 offers that.
GPU VRAM Question, please help me decide.
