    Hello!

    I'm confused between several laptops. I'm not paying too much attention to the size. 15.6 is my first choice but if a 17 inch laptop can offer better performance(with a better GPU), I wouldn't mind going for it. These are some of the laptops I'm considering..

    Asus G55 and Lenovo Y580 -> GTX660M (Kepler) 15.6 inches
    MSI GT 70 and Toshiba Qosmio X875 -> GTX670M (Fermi) 17 inches

    Notebookcheck is pretty confusing. I don't know how much better is the GTX670M as compared to the GTX660M. Even if there is a significant performance increase, is it really worth paying extra money for an older architecture GPU?

    My budget is around $1400. Also, can I get a laptop with HD 7800M/7900M series at around $1400?

    Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Well the Trinity based GX60 with the HD7970M will be landing soon and is very likely to be in your budget and will beat both of those machines in gaming.

    The 670M is faster (when both are stock or both overclocked), but is also hotter.

    However the MSI machine can upgrade the grahics (very easily) while the Asus can not at all.

    I'm running out of time so I have to decide soon. Should I go for the GTX670M laptop then?

    If you absolutely cannot wait, then yes I would suggest you get the one with the 670m.

    Between the Clevo and the Toshiba, go for the Clevo, although there is a chance the Toshiba can be upgraded just as easily, the cooling is likely not nearly as good.

    You can definitely get a Sager 9150 with a 7970 that's around your budget (under 1500), you just have to ask around. I did and that was back in May before prices dropped slightly..........even got the OS included.

    I would choose the GT60 since the GPU can be upgraded. I was going to get that exact one you're looking at but went ahead and spent more to get the 680m. This is my 2nd MSI notebook and I really like the direction they are going in. Well built with very few downsides IMO.
