I just got my GPU fixed (some guy contract to dell came over), he put in a new motherboard, heatsink, gpu. My temps are back under control (went from 95 degrees C to about 75-77 under load) however, in some games i am still getting vertical lines/screen tears. He said if this problem occurs it is probably the screen. Should i give dell another call and get my screen replaced or is it something else?

Yeah could be the screen. Probably just another faulty GPU.

....or it could be a driver problem. If it is only certain games, see if there is a driver update you can apply.

If it is screen tearing, maybe you should turn vsync on in the driver or game.

    try turning v-sync on...

i would say that maybe it's because of an overclock but you wouldn't be doing that...

    I'd give them another call.

Can you post a picture of what's going on? Does it happen with anything but games? "lines" is fairly vague, and could be one of many things.

i took multiple printscreens but none of them showed the vertical lines/screen tears which leads me to believe that it is the screen and it is just not refreshing properly or something.

To be a little more specific the lines will not show up if i am not moving (in an fps), only when i move will they show up.

    ill try a bit later^^.

Just hooked it up to the LCD tv beside my laptop with a dvi cable and the vertical lines were still there when i tried a game, so maybe its not just the monitor.
