Hiya, I have an Acer 3820TG equipped with a AMD Radeon 5650M (Win 7 64bit, 4Gb ram, i3 @ 2.4GHz); im running the latest catalyst drivers 12.8. I've been having issues gaming whereby when I first start playing, my FPS is high. Then after 20mins or so, it drops drastically and it's like watching a picture show.

I downloaded Afterburner, which showed me that idle, my gpu temp was at 40 degrees C. As I start gaming, this grows to about 110 degrees C. before 100 degrees or so (graph is green), the gpu usage stays rather constant at 100%, but then it starts to jump all over the place from 0 to 100%. The core clock is also jumping from 550MHz to 450, 350 and below. I'm assuming this is throttling? Is there any ways to fix this, and do you believe my fan or graphic card is defective? I'm playing mostly Tera Online (or trying to play...). Thank you

    110 degree celsius? Seriously?
If that is true and its not a defective sensor, then holy cow. Yes, core clock jumping is throttling.

Do you hear your fan running? Have you opened the notebook up to see if there is dust build up in there? Have you repasted the GPU?

Yeah, t really is 110 celsius. I downloaded another program (gputemp) and it told me the same numbers. I hear the fan running which i presume is its highest speed. Let me try to clean it out as you suggested. Thanks

Yes blow it clean (with compressed air if you have). Usually dust builds up and clogs the air vents and makes it hotter inside.

I would repaste asap while you have the bottom cover off. temps like that are a major sign something isn't right.
