Since there are so many different models, I have compiled the info on the specs of most of the lastest line of nVidia's mobile GPUs. I hope people find it useful since I have seen a lot of questions regarding specs!
I'm sure I don't have all the different models and variants. So far here is my list. I do not know a few of the specs indicated by a "?" in the boxes (TDP of 9800M GS, 9500M G, and 9200M GS) nor do I know all the models that have GDDR2/3 variants nor their difference in memory clock speed. If you have a GPU w/ different specs please post up the GPU-Z screenshot and I'll add the data to the table (or notice any mistakes).
edit: updated spreadsheet in pic attached, didn't want to mess up the HTMLand added ATI info below as well.

Nice! I always thought something like this would be handy, but never found one nor went around to compiling it. I like that you include power use and the equivalent Quadro cards - those are always the things I find myself looking for and not being able to find.

Here's the stat for te 9500M GS.

I have the same laptop as you. I chose not to include rebranded 8 series GPUs since they're still on the older 80nm process and really have nothing new compared to the 8600M GT, except a few refinements. If people want, I can add the 8 series GPUs too but I felt that since the 9 series already has so many already, that I'd stick with the most recent series.

Won't the clocks be different for the DDR2 and GDDR3 versions....?

I'm in the process of adding ATI cards as well as nVidia's 10 series. I have some 8 series (the 65nm ones - 8800M GTX, 8800M GTS) but didn't bother listing 80nm ones due to their obsolete status.
edit: uploaded file I'm working on, please let me know if you have any info that I haven't added and if possible a source
edit2: put attachment in 1st post -
Ok... I guess this charts useless to me since I use an 8600m GT and if I were to consider a new laptop I wouldn't be able to gauge the performance increase I would see. If I was considering a system with a 9200/9400 I'm obviously not going to game on it but if I was gaming I would be interested in 9600-9800 performance. Again, if I can't measure against current performance, not sure what the chart is good for. Good luck!
-
The 8 series has been out for a while, searching the forums yields a lot of results. I'll add the specs of the 8 series cards to the table.
Comparisons of 8600M GT DDR2/GDDR3 with 9600M GS DDR2/GDDR3, 9600M GT DDR2/GDDR3, HD 3650 DDR2/GDDR3 are plentiful. Memory size is pretty much irrelevant above 256MB.

On average 9600M GT is 15-20% faster than 8600M GT of the same memory type. The 9600M GS is roughly on par with the 8600M GT. The HD 3650 is between the 9600M GS and GT. Hope that helps! -
Just ordered an HP dv7t with the 9600M GT but now that I see this chart with the TDP numbers I wonder if I should have ordered the 9200M GS for better battery life ... graphics performance/gaming not important to me... Would both of these play Blu-Ray ok ?

First off, incredibly useful chart. Thanks for putting the time into it.
Do you have any plans to compile a similar chart for ATI GPU's? Additionally, it would be helpful if there were an additional column that listed the equivalent part(s) from ATI (likewise for nVidia equivalents on an ATI chart).
Thanks again! -

I have a stupid question;
from this list it seems like the 9300M GS consumes alot less power than the 9600M GT but I cant really see a negative difference except for Memory Bus Width and Stream Processors. Does that really make a big difference in gameplay? How much longer battery life do you think the 9300M GS will give? -
The combination of 4x more shader processors and 2x the bandwidth is huge, but so is the decrease in battery life. It really depends on the game, I wouldn't be able to give you a definite answer without knowing that. Battery life, I'd estimate to be a good 45+ minutes, if not more for the 9300M GS.

It's hard to believe my 9600GT is 23W as it's the main heat generator in my machine

Hei, this reminds me of an old thread of mine:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=355818
I haven't updated it but it was used to show Nvidia chipset naming and rebranding.
I should update some of the info there.
EDIT: You can use the info and pictures there freely. -
I should update some of the info here too... I'm still waiting for someone to buy a notebook with a GT 120M so that I can fill in the clocks! Also, the GTX 170M (though it might have been replaced by the GTX 260M), I believe it was supposed to be in one of the Asus' models from CES. Also, looking for GTS 150M (core clock), GT 102M (memory clock), and all the clocks for HD 3410.
-
Looking for anyone with a GTS 150M, GT 220M, or GT 120M to take a GPU-Z screenshot. I have no clock speed info on any of these models... Thanks!
-
130m?
I hope this helps.
Great job with the thread by the way.
Thanks for you work.
Be well, JWAttached Files:

Thanks. I've kinda neglected it though. I think I'll try to revise it now that a lot of cards have been out and tested for a while.

Until someone with a GTX 280M comes along that is.
Also, ignore the checkboxes at the bottom of the image. I've been messing with my drivers lately (to find something with the best performance), and with 195.62, all the boxes are checked.
EDIT: And the clocks I've set are NVIDIA's reference clocks, the 'default' clocks below are ASUS' underclocked speeds.
EDIT 2: Also, in 3DMark06 results, my GPU shows up as a GTX 170M online (although in the program it says GTX 260M), if that's any help at all (you've labelled the 9800M GS as the GTX 170M in your chart). -
Sorry, but the 4570 is just a tiny bit better than the 3650. So is the 8600M GT.
