Hey all,
I just purchased two new laptops (Dell 15r and the Dell 14z).
They both come with a dedicated gpu and the intel integrated HD4000.
When I try to run GPUz, it just hangs on the gpuz splash and never opens.
I tried to associate gpuz.exe with the dedicated card, but nothing changes.
if I use hwinfo32, it comes up showing the intel integrated gpu only.
If I disable the integrated gpu, the dedicated starts having conflicts and is disabled by the OS.
Anyone have this issue? How can i get gpuz to work on these machines?
Having this issues has prompted a few other questions... this is my first time using laptops witch switchable graphics, so pardon if they are simple.
How do I upgrade the drivers for both the integrated and dedicated cards? just the normal way or do i need to do something special?
Is there a way to disable the integrated gpu entirely and not use it and only use the dedicated gpu for everything?
Thanks,
-
i cant get gpu-z to work either but im running strictly off the 7970m and no enduro. Hwmonitor works and so does msi afterburner so im sticking with those.

Surprisingly enough, I DID manage to get GPU-Z working with the 7970M with Enduro turned off. All I had to do was click on 'no' when GPU-Z prompted me whether to detect OpenCL support or not. I'm on this driver, by the way. Haven't tried it with Enduro on though. In any case, this was still the first time I got GPU-Z to run!

I usually turn on a game before running GPU-z, that forces the graphics card on

Hey starting a game and then launching gpuz seemed to work.
HOWEVER, when GPUz opens, it shows the intel graphic card running (and it is measuring temps and such on that gpu).
If i click on the drop down in gpuz and select the dedicated card, I dont get any sensor info! any ideas?
Thanks! -
Hmm that's weird, both cards detect for me. Did you set gpu-z in enduro to high performance?
-
well when you say 'enduro' I presume you mean catalyst center... when I right click on the background display area, I get a menu item to configure switchable graphics. When I do this, I get a catalyst window with some apps listed. I have turned them all on to high performance. I had to add gpuz manually (didnt detect it for some reason).
same thing happens .... gpuz only opens when a game is launched and only shows the intel info, although the dedicated is listed in the gpuz dropdown, when i select it, no info comes back (no memory, no NOTHING lol including temps and gpu measures). Interesting enough, this is what happens on the 15r laptop. However, on the 14z this works fine and lists both the intel and the dedicated with the correct info and temps/etc. so it seems something is up with the 15r only.
also of note, is I measured the fps on a game on the 15r while using switchable graphics to try out the power saver and the performance settings. The dedicated is definitely turning on as the fps almost doubles in the same scene and same graphic settings so I dont think the dedicated is 'bad' or something.
GPU-z with switchable graphics?
