hey guys i just downloaded the GRID demo and BOY IS IT HARD TO GET IT RUNNING SMOOTHLY! even on my performance profile (705/750), its hard to get playable framerates ...

Is there a way to tweak this game? i tried to play on Ultra settings ( 1024x768 and x4AA) and i get like...17fps..

I want to have a good resolution/fps/perf ratio..

what would be best or the 8400M GT u guys think?

Its harder to tweak than Crysis lol...crysis i can mark 20+ fps

First turn off mirros and wind, those are the least important. Then definitely turn everything down from ultra to high. For the most increase in fps. Turn shadows down. Shadows has more effect on the fps then almost all of the other settings combined.

In the demo i dont see those options.. is there like an "Advanced" tab or something?

    I tried this set:

    1024x768 , Vsync On, x8MSAA

I dont know the rest of the settings lol...and i can pull off 25+ fps ..not bad i guess. i need more tho..

hmm i think i got it running well

1280x800 , x2MSAA , shadows low, mirrors disabled and such. rest are on either high or medium.

bout 28+ fps 704/750 (performance profile).

    Dunno about 600/700 though..

you need to get rid of anti aliasing. period.

you'll notice a ton in the menus and stuff, but in game as everything is blurring by, its not a big deal. it absolutely kills performance. turn it off.

    run 1280x800, medium settings. done.

Not trying to Hijack, but for the Guys that said GRID on PC isnt up to par with the x360 version, there are Ultra high config files that'll make GRID Squash the x360 Version, ULtra High Particle and 4096 shader res o_0 i tried them and they had from 2FPS to none performance hit, but the game is looking better than ever

If you turn off AA, then the gain will run twice as good. Applies to all games.

YEah like I was saying under the advanced settings, shadows does more than particles, card detail, etc etc. combined.

but it also makes it look much cooler.

the shadows on the dash, and on the cars, are just amazing.

Oh yeah definitely but I was just saying if your not a big shadow person like I am, turn it down and you can basically turn everything else up alot higher.

Downloading the patch mc, I'll give it another go.

thats true. shadows are sort of like AA in the performance hit you take. its... big.

imo, more valuable than aa, but less valuable than hitting 30 fps. so i would try to find a balance of settings where i can at least get some shadows...

still, turning the to low or... even off... might be what it takes.

You also have a 7950 GTX, the OP has an 8400. Ultra settings aren't going to cut it on his GPU.

This is not necessarily a performance tweak, but someone has released a realistic lighting mod that gets rid of the "watching the game through a used coffee filter" look.

Comparison screenshots and a link to the mod can be found here.
