Guys, i'm having a weird problem with GRID... I cannot select any resolution above 1280x854... It's not like it's blank/gray... It just doesn't appear there... I scroll up to 1280x854 and then it goes to 640x480...

Anyone having the same problem? Any known solution?

I'm running it at that resolution, but i wanted to try 1400x900...

Rambo i don't think it's my aspect ratio because my native res is 1400x900... At least that one should be available...

Most games have 4:3 or 16:9/16:10 options in the settings. I'm not sure about GRID, but you might want to look into that.

Sometimes games have set resolutions, and perhaps 1440x900 isn't an option.

Same here. It might be a limitation of the Demo?

    drivers maybe.

for example, i could choose from many resolutions in oblivoin using 169.28, but then i switched to 174.74 and now i cannot.

I had the same problem on the demo, but managed to sort it out. It seems that Codemasters think that if our Video Ram is less than 270MB, we shouldn't be allowed to run in anything over 1280 x 1024. Anyway, here's what you need to do (for the DEMO at least) ....

    Edit the file c:\program files\codemasters\GRID Demo\system\hardware_settings_restrictions.xml

In there, you will find the line :

    res mem="270" maxwidth='1280'

    simply change this to:

    res mem="270" maxwidth='1440'

or whatever resolution width you would like to run the game at.

    Thats it !

I don't have the full game for the PC (only for the 360) and I don't know if your prob. is with the Demo or the full game. If it is with the demo, I'm sure the above will work, just make sure your path is correct to the hardware_settings_restrictions.xml file in case you haven't installed to the default folder. If it is with the full game, then I suppose the solution is the same, but with a different path to the file, as you'll be on GRID, not GRID Demo, or maybe they sorted this out on the full game, I don't know.

I run it at 1440x900 but that's only cause that's the my proper screen resolution, maybe it doesn't appear if your PC has a lower resolution (like the average 15' resolution of 1280 x 800), could be wrong but you never know.

Nah, it was like Icaru said... If you have less than 270 MB of Vram, you need to FORCE the resolution, because it will only appear up to 1280x1024... My native resolution is 1440x900, but because my 8600's are 256MB the game wont let me go over 1280 unless i change the lines in the file that Icaru said...

whats funny is that they consider 1440x900 to be a higher res than 1280x1024, when there are actually less pixels to be rendered. do the multiplication yourself. if they allow 1280x1024, they should also allow 1440x900

Hi, I have a 9800GTX with 512MB and I still cannot run my native 1680x1050 resolution. I have edited what you said and then went in my game to set to that resolution but the game itself is still running at 1280x768 resolution which looks really bad..

Why doesn't CodeMaster just allow users to use whatever settings they want? If running at 2500x1600 resolution lags, they'll know to set their settings down themselves instead of having their options restricted..
