Hi, i spent a week downloading this game and after installing it i found that it's really slow and unresponsive. The FPS while playing the game is unacceptable, i can't play at all. I was told my graphics card basically sucks :p so i expected this. But most games run fine if i change the settings. Does any1 know which settings i can change to get this game running with acceptable fps?

I'm not surprised... You have a 9200M GS... what did you expect? Racing games are always taxing on the GPU, probably more than any other genre.

I played it on a console, but try lowering the resolution all the way down, no aa, lowest settings, and work your way up from their (if you can play it...)

    Hi.

Have you tried overclocking, I can get my 9200m GS 256mb GDDR3 to 700mhz core and 850mhz memory with nvidia ntune.

"Can i run it" says it GRID should run, gets a score just under recommended.

I am going to download the GRID demo and give it a go.

    Regards

    John.

    Hi.

if you have not done it before you need to find a guide, but nvidia ntune is the best program to use.

If you only adjust the GPU and MEMORY in small amounts, you should be fine.

I only overclock when i need to, and return to default clocks when i am finished.

    John.

I haven't tried the overclocking yet. I'm running a NOCD executable. So for sum reason everytime i exit i get a "this program has stopped working" message. so i can't change the settings :-s just thought i'd ask this before i go playing around with the graphics card, will i have to change the settings or will this overclocking let me play on high settings?

    Hi.

I ran the grid demo, i only get 8-10 fps with my stock clocks and 10-15fps overclocked to 700 core, 850 memory but it plays smooth.

It`s not the easiest game to play with a keyboard, but it`s a great game!

    Regards

    John.

EDIT : ran at 715 core 850 mem for 10mins and the highest core temp is 58c

the 9200gs is in the same legue as my 8400gs. you should be able to play the game at 30-50fps. just change your settings to 800x600 res, everthing on the lowest possible option. and make sure AA is off. and OC your card if needed

It took a week to download? lol Hmmm

FWIW.. GRID stinks at 800x600 with all the settings tuned off. It's like driving through a fuzz patch. BUT if you've never played it at a higher res, you won't know what you're missing ;)

I hear that GRID gets crappy FPS even on pretty solid rigs. Like Crysis, except with even less eye-candy than that over-hyped POS. Maybe it's not your rig that's to blame?

Yes with everything at default 1280x800 , with EDIT : 2xaa

It`s a nightmare trying to steer a straight line, with this 12" keyboard.

even at 800x600 on low, the max fraps were 25fps , It must be fixed or something.

what do you mean you cannot change the setting, the game or the card core memory speeds?

    Regards

    John.

The game settings. I haven't tried the card yet. i asked my brother, he's got an HP laptop too, he said i shouldn't coz it'll heat the graphics card too much. He had to change his motherboard twice coz of the graphics card u c.

Yeah, how hot the card gets varys from notebook to notebook , the hottest my GPU has ever got was 61C , but the memory dose not have a temp sensor so i never go past 850mhz, GDDR3 can go 1000+mhz with good cooling.

Sorry, but there is no way 10-15fps runs smooth, I think you need at least double that for it to be playable. Basically, the 9200m GS just can't cope with Grid.

The minimum GPU requirement for Grid is a 6800GT. Which even for current games is about twice as powerful as the 9200m GS (based on 3DMark06 scores).

Crysis is going to be a slideshow. You'll need to run it at 640x480, all low to get a somewhat decent experience. And I know, you're going to come posting on here about how it runs good on the first mission... but just wait. After about the third scene, the 9200M GS will come to a crawl.

And I'm guessing you are downloading these games through a torrent site, correct?

I am just running the demo.

I just run GRID again 12-15fps using fraps and it was smooth , no jerky frames or nothing, so what gives, is fraps lieing.

I have been playing video games since the 80`s and i can tell if a game is smooth or not.

Admitted i can only do half a lap before the car blowing up, as the controls are nightmare.

    Regards

    John.

Crysis will also be a funky slideshow. Thanks to your bandwith, 64-bit.

Even when you've a coreclock of 1GHz, shader 1500MHz en and mem on 2GHz. The bandwith will be the bottleneck.

I think the 9200m gs is just not cut out for heavy duty gaming. Most of the modern games use extensive amount of shaders and if your card is lacking in those the performance will not be very encouraging. With newer games, the situation is going to be worse.

No, here I have to agree with DaMarcus as the 64 bit bandwidth is just too low to run current games with a decent framerate. I am afraid if you try overclocking it , it won't solve the problem. Even 128 bit cards are struggling nowadays. The way to go is 256 bit bandwidth card.

I can get 5-7 hours in battery save mode.

Graphics card is too weak to run such a demanding game as GRID.

    to the OP:

An xbox360/ps3 (grid is meant to be played with a good controller) or even a high end desktop ($600 without a monitor) isn't out of reach... I think you'll ruin a lot of experiences playing at 800*640 with everything on low, that is Nintendo 64ish :D
