Hi to everyone, i'm sorry if my message is a little hard to understand, but english is not my native language, so, sorry for that.
I'm having a very boring problem with my GT 540M. I have this GPU Meter, a gadget to Windows 7, and he shows me the value of the memory clock of my GT. So, when i choose manually in the nVIDIA control panel, to switch to the nVIDIA graphic processor, the value of the memory clock keep stucked in 324MHz, or in idle mode, i dont know. I mean, if the GT is on, i can see the value of the memory clock on the GPU Meter on 900MHz (897MHz to be precisely), then i switch manually to the integrated graphics in the nVIDIA control panel, the memory clock goes to 324MHz, but when i go again to the nVIDIA control panel and choose to the GT, the memory clock doesn't change to 900MHz, he keep stucked in 324MHz,![]()
Only if i reboot the note, the memory clock goes to the correct value, the 900MHz. I don't now what to do, i mean, i don't use the automatic selection (Optimus) because it sucks, never work on any game, i already have the latest driver (301.42). I can see if the memory clock is working or not, when i start a game, Skyrim for example, even in the launcher i can see if the memory clock is working or not, when the mem clock is on 324MHz the automatic settings of the launcher set the configuration to medium settings, but when the memory clock is on 900MHz the launcher set the settings to HIGH.
Here is the specs of my notebook:
SAMSUNG RF411
i3 2310M (2.1GHz)
4GB DDR3 1333MHz (single channel)
HD 500GB (5400RPM)
GT 540M 1GB DDR3 (128 bits)
Please, help me guys, i don't know what else can i do.![]()

Ok, i tested with the GPU-Z, and for my surprise the GT is not on, but on the nVIDIA control panel she is ON!!
I switched manually in the control panel, even doing this doesn't turn on the GT!
is wrong with this card? ;_;

The GT 540M will downclock if the GPU is at idle (improving battery life), it will go to full speed when something like Furmark is started.
You can also update your driver using this method: GeForce Driver Installation Guide - NVIDIA Forums
You can see even the latest drivers also downclock when idle, so that's not a problem
EDIT: In nvidia control panel (right click desktop), click on 3d settings and select "global" tab, scroll down and set "power management mode" to "prefer max performance".
Dunno if this will cause a lower battery life tho -
Should I change the driver to the 296?
GT 540M, memory clock problem? ;_;
