How much is the difference in terms of performance between GT9800 and 7730M? I don't understand the numbers. :)

the 7730M litteraly explode the 9800 GT :) the 9800 is from 2008 while the 7730M is 6 monthes old..
notebookcheck this site will help a lot to identify mobile GPU :)

I already found the 7730m at notebookcheck but I couldnt find the gt9800(coz prolly not a mobile gpu. :p.) so i asked google about it and i found the gt9800 in passmark with the g3d score thing. The problenm is I couldnt find the 7730m in that website but I found the 640m,which is slightly powerful than the 7730m. Between the gt9800 and 640m,the difference in the g3d score thing is small, around 100pts,so i assume that the gt9800 and 7730m are almost the same in terms of performance?

The 9800GT was a performance/enthusiast desktop card from 2008 whereas the 7730M is a mainstream/performance mobile card from 2012. Hence, the technological advances in the meantime could have only barely negated the performance differential between the said two categories of products..

In terms of raw power, the 650M GDDR5 is comparable to 2 x 9800M GTX SLi which would be equivalent to 2 x 9800GT SLi so it is highly possible that a 640M and 9800GT fall fairly close..

the 9800GT was also a laptop card which was a re badged 8800GTX
the 9800 had major problems roughly after 2 years for hundreds if not thousands of users including me. mine lasted just over 2 years and then died on the release day of crysis 2. luckily i had extended warranty so it was replaced with the better and faster 260GTX

as mentioned the 7730 is a mainstream card from last year.

Sorry if I was mistaken. Thought the 9800GT must be the desktop version (and 9800M GT for mobile) since my laptop had 9800M GTX. The OP's situation is still curious though, as I can hardly imagine anything being sold with G92 cards now..

9800 GT (rebadged 8800 GT) gets this in 3DMark Vantage:

The 7730M @ stock gets ~ P7100 (before Cat 12.11). After Cat 12.11, you should see a higher score.

So yeah, the 7730M beats the 9800 GT (desktop) a.k.a 8800 GT.

(The 9800M GTX, mobile, is FAR weaker compared to either card, check this: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9800M-GTX.9919.0.html)

Don't know who "madhat" is, but yeah this card is pretty awesome for a 35W mobile card:

sounds about right. i was getting 5122 on the mobile 9800GT

and there was a lot of disagreements back in the day until it was proved with a box of 10 9800GT mobile cards which when the stickers were removed they had a 8800GTX sticker under each one of them.
