Definitely the GT555M though I didn't think they came in 1GB models, I thought 1.5GB was the lowest, followed by 2GB then 3GB..Anyway, back to topic, more VRAM doesn't mean anything if the card can't make use of all of it anyway..Think of it as having 16GB of RAM or even 8GB when all you use is 3GB, the extra RAM is basically useless..Same applies to having a 2GB GT540, it won't be able to make use of all 2GB, so the extra VRAM won't make any difference performance wise.

The GT555 is much better than the GT540. Vram size is very unimportant compaired to amount of cores, core/Vram speed and architecture

Well (1) for games, simply because you will have to be reducing the res on (2) to play it anyway.

But for anything productive or watching media (2) will come out ahead.

Not really. There is almost no media or productivity suites that will use 1 GB of RAM, let alone 2 GB of RAM.

    TLDR; get the GT555m.

I think he meant because it has a much better screen. If you want to be productive then more screen estate is always a plus and if you want to watch media then 1080p is pretty much a must, not to mention the fact that the dell screen is one of the best around.

Even this gimped Lenovo version of the 555M is about 25% faster than the 540M.
