    Is there a big difference in performance between these cards (both GDDR3) at 720p, 900p or HD resolution gaming?

    sasuke, for many people it probably comes down to the laptop they are getting. There are no pull down menus to opt in for what ever gpu you want. :)

    There is going to be a huge difference between 740m and 750m. Not only is it a difference between ddr3 and ddr5 (740m were mostly, but not all ddr3 units) but the freq of the memory being run on the 750 is much higher. There is also a sizable step in the gpu freq, you are already hopping over the 745m chip.

    I think you also have 2x the shaders in the 750M compared to 740M so definetly get the 750M with GDDR5...

    730m through 755m all have 384 shaders.

    735M uses 64 bit bus w/DDR3, 755M uses 128bit bus with GDDR5 and also much higher clock and memory rates.

    735m = 640M LE
    755m = 660M

    Jobine, thanks for answering a question that was never asked. ^^ clearly if the shaders are the same, the performance is made up in ram used and the clock speeds both the gpu and ram are run at.

    Thank you :) The laptop choices I have are either 740m with i5-4200M or 750m (DDR5) with i5-4200u. Will there be a big decrease in gaming performance due to the undervolted processor?

    I wouldn't say there will be a big difference. However, if you can try getting the i7-4500u and +750M (GDDR5)... Are you getting the Dell Inspiron 15 7537?

    Yeah that's the one. Too bad the i7 version is too expensive for me. At least that's how it is where I live (Russia - though I am not Russian)

    my opinion: the better performance of the GT750M is WAY better than the little worse performance of the i5-4200U. in many games, you wouldn't see any difference in higher details if comparing two systems with only the CPU differating. only games relying heavily on the CPU (BF4 multiplayer for example) could show some difference. but even there, the combination of GT750M plus i5-4200U ist better than e.g a i7-4700 plus a GT740M.

    hsan, those configs are hard to say. The 440m has the better processor by a large margin. You will probably find that games that are cpu bound perform worse on the 750m config. If you are looking for more battery life then get the 750m with the 4200u, other wise the other one will probably give you more consistent performance. Also at this point you should let the other features and design of the laptop sway your decision.

    Other features are pretty much the same Jeff, except the 4200m laptop is a Lenovo ideapad..
