But this is the future of games graphics but my point is there a laptop that could run this?
-
o wow you may have just re-kindled my intrest on gta 4...downloadin the mod now
-
Amazing what mods can do on a decent game engine. Damn consoles dragging us back.
-
When Rockstar publishes a GTA version like that, then I will buy it.
-
This doesn't work with EFLC does it?
-
Wow. Made me do a double take, thought that was a real life screenshot in the link!

Hot dayum! Because of the poor port im having a little rough time playin it now, so this mod will most certainly crush my system :O Do you guys think ill be able to run it?
-
-
Also I hate how I'm going to have to pirate the game to use this because it doesn't work with Steam...
-
It worked on steam for me but the light bloom was too intense. For kicks I ran it on my 13" Acer 3820TG without the killer DOF effects and at 1024x600 I got 20fps during the day and 25fps at night.
Honestly, I was really impressed. my wimpy ATi 6550m was overclocked to 670/900, overclocking a bit further could make it potentially more playable though I wouldn't risk it.
Next step is to give it a go on my desktop ATi 4850 -
Your telling me that I just spent 10 bucks for GTA IV on steam and I can't use these mods?
-
Even the guy in the thread said that an i7 and a GTX 570 will run it sub 30 FPS. -
-
-
But I do look forward to games with nicer graphics. Many people would disagree, but I believe graphics is a large contributor to making a game much more immersive. -
-
Well if you want more fps just turn of AmbientOcclusion in the ini file the difference is barely noticable anyway with it turned on or off and the framerate hit isn´t worth it.
Or give this ini file a try, I have changed some variables and the bloom isn´t as intense as it is in the original ice ini file.Attached Files:

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
LaptopNut I had no problem installing 1.0.4.0 patch on steam GTA4 and playing. Also you need to find manually and install this Social Club thingy... And also disable auto update.
-
Very nice.
Though, if I'm not mistaken, GTA IV was poorly optimized upon initial release and later patches didn't really do anything to remedy that.
My point is that if the game was released for the PC as a properly optimized one, then this graphics mod most likely wouldn't have been so intensive hardware-wise. -
I don't know what's up with everyone else, but it works for me on steam without any downgrading or such.
I just copied the files to the directory and it works. I'm not getting any DOF or a way to tweak options, but it works -

I've been running this mod for the past week on my STEAM copy of GTA IV. Let me tell you, it totally reignited my interest in the game. It looks stunning, I was actually gonna post a thread about it but I see the OP beat me to it!
BTW. The ice enhancer mod works for me in the STEAM version, you just have to browse to the GTA IV folder manually. Other mods may not work on the STEAM version. -
How much framerate does this mod cut down (relative to vanilla GTA4)?
-
With that said I don't like ICE as much as I like dpleasant3 work of art. Can you get dpleasant3 enhancer from steam?
This might be the first game that you play for the sake of the graphic. I highly doubt anyone would finish the mission cause they will spent too much time looking at the view lol. -
Actually GTA IV now looks like Red Dead Redemption for Xbox 360 shader wise and lighting wise.
At least with the changes in the ini file I posted on the second page. -
And about the point you make... I can't make any sense of it. The mod uses higher graphics (textures, shaders, etc) thus logically it should be a heavier burden than the original game. -
The actual mod doesn´t make the textures any higher, though if you install GTA IV City Textures you get some very nice high resolution texture replacements.

Thought it was GTA V for few seconds... Downloading GTA IV now....

My brother has just installed this mod, and it is waaaay to bright :/ I think it is somekind of a bug. And god. This game is poorly optimized for ATI cards. His 5870 can barely run it with 30 fps on highest settings with and without the mod (The mod doesn't change the framerate for him ;S?).
-
Edit: Look at how bad these numbers are. Scroll to the game section. 65 FPS on LOW? BAAAAAAAAAD. -
How come the game runs so bad? Just by turning off AmbientOcclusion and skylighting in the ini file I get 45-50 fps 1080p all View Distance 55, Detail 55, Cars 80, Shadows 10 at those settings and all other settings set to Very High.
Same settings but with all options turned in the ini file AmbientOcclusion and skylighting I get around 30 fps and this with my overclocked desktop 460 GTX. Of course the CPU I have is an Core I7 2600k @ 3.8GHz.
Just stock vanilla GTA IV with all options maxed I have no trouble at all with the game framerate wise.
Surely a desktop 5870 should run the game better than my GTX 460. Either his system isn´t tweaked and opimized or his CPU can´t hold up. Better if he tries the same settings as I have above and see if he can hit at least 60 fps on those settings. -
I flew off my seat as soon as the video played...
-
I just tried it and everything was way too bright for me.
-
I really haven't done anything to GTAIV aside from a few police vehicle mods (which look spectacular btw) and a police-addon. Pretty much the only fun thing to do after you've already beat it. Multiplayer was great when it was first released, but now there are either no matches available or everyone wants to do deathmatch on Airport. -

I still havent played this game because it runs terrible on both my laptop and desktop. I need to get myself a quad before i can run this well because no matter what cpu speed i use it runs at the exact same frame rate on my laptop.
on my desktop (e6600) going from the stock speeds to 3.2ghz only sees a 3 frame increase
I can actually run metro 2033 with max dx10 details at a higher framerate then gta IV (my desktop gpu is a gtx 260 in sli in case your wondering)
Also cant seem to download these mods anyway since clicking on the download link just opens it in my browser (save as dont work either ill try a diff browser later) with the enb im using now i run at 15 frames but if i disable enb while i play it jumps to 30 but looks horrendous lol
@ anyone with way too bright stuff i had that happen to me the first time i applied the mod dunno why it happened but completely erasing and reinstalling seemed to work for me. -

May try this out, this is a game I liked but quit playing so now a good reason to go play it again.
I think I have a retail copy of it as well but if it works on the newer version of the game that would be good incase they patched anything important with the new updates. -
Thanks. -

@lozanogo.
Yes I use x-liveless. Actually the last set of Dpleasants settings I think it looks worse than Ice´s config. That is just my opinion. -

Hmm,, anyone knows what the settings are for getting similar graphics to first screenshot?
