I did a lot of OS tweaking and overclocked my GPU to get GTA 4 running on my fine Gateway p7805u. I also had to tweak the game settings themselves to get no fps loss ( I run @ average 35 fps). Check out my videos on youtube.

Good for you.

Lol, that's very nice SS.
I really don't believe you, since you only have a 2.26Ghz C2D, but since you have videos, I guess I have to. -
It's running at full speed with maxed settings on my 360 without tweaking =p
-
-
with that CPU their is no way this is legit. Damn trolls.
-
Well, just for the sake of "trying" to make this thread actually, you know, meaningful... what exact mods or tweaks did you do in order to get GTA 4 to work so well? I'm sure it'd help others who want to play the game nicely.
-
I used to think GTA IV ran at full speed and smooth on my Xbox360 too until I played on my gaming laptop
Now I can't even stand playing it on my Xbox360 but you never realise how badly it looks and runs until you play it at high settings on a PC. -
I've tried with a P8600 cpu and a ATI mobility 3870 and there's NO WAY that it runs smoot with max settins @1920x1200...
I really want to see those "mods" -

Consoles don't automatically play every game at maxed setting all the time..

>.> I don't really care what settings he used....the vid is all I need to see that whatever he did made it look freak en awesome and it was completely playable. As for it not being playable on a 3870...well thats because gta4 hates radeon cards, been known for a while now. + rep for actually posting nice quality videos.

Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
In his YouTube video, he mentions that he is running the game at 1440x1050 on his 1920x1200 monitor.

It would be of great help if he had an FPS ticker active while he's playing.
-
So in other words, ignore the part in the thread title about being MAXED and the part about it being 1920x1200 res.
-
I think I was doing just that lol
-
yea look at his settings, some are high but its def. not maxed. medium water quality and all the sliders cept view distance at 45 are at the lowest. nonetheless, the vids are still quite amazing for a 2.26GHz C2D.
-
Looks like more game tweaking... The view distance is all the way down to 1. :/

Motion for a /thread.

For those who think that gta 4 is cpu dependant:
I use a i7, and gta runs on 1 core with 22% -

I don't believe you mad max, proof or it didn't happen.

This thread is going nowhere, so its now closed.
If you want to make a claim, be sure its properly documented.
GTA 4 on my Laptop runs mad smooth @ 1920x1200 maxed settings
