I play games on a 24 inch 16:9 screen and when i set a 16:9 res in GTA 4 the image gets dragged out and the main char becomes fat and short. When i set a 4:3 res the game looks normal but i get big black stripes on both sides. This game is pretty new but it still not support anything else than 4:3 screens?

Works fine for me on a 16:9 screen (playing at 1600x900).

Hehe, of course it does. Problem is on your end.

Try go to nVidia Control Panel > "Adjust desktop size and position" > Tick "Use NVIDIA scaling" > OK.

That should atleast stretch 4:3 resolutions but perhaps also fix the 16:9 resolution issue.

    Use the native resolution.

i dunno what the native is of this screen, if it is the highest it is 1600x1200 and it still gives me the same results

For GTA 4 there should be an auto aspect ratio option, it should have 4:3, 16:9, 16:10 and Auto. If not you need to pick the right one, so if your computer is 1600x900, then pick 16:9, if it's 1280x800 pick 16:10, etc.

I've got a 16:9 laptop and GTA IV definitely supports 16:9.

In the Graphic Options (in the game) you probably still have the Aspect Ratio set to 4:3. Make sure it has the right Ratio for the screen resolution your using or even just set it to Auto.

Works fine here on 1366x768 on Auto aspect ratio option .... the strange part is if I manually set the aspect ratio option to 16:9 I get that fat short char thing

Yeah, you should probably leave aspect ratio on auto but if it's giving you problems you should manually set it to 16:9 or 16:10.
