right so i was going to get GTA 4 but i waited for reviews and thank god i did with all the problems people seem to be having with it :(
if thats changed please tell me ive been away for a it :)

anyway i got GTA SA, it was cheap so i went for it but i seem to be having some problems with it:

1, during the cutscenes and when listening to the radio i cant hear anything but once thats finished the sound is fine any ideas?

someone i know tried adding some mod for the sound or something and ever since i havent been able to hear during the cutscenes - i mean just the talking during the cutscene and listening to radio everything else seems fine

i have tried an uninstall and reinstall but that didnt work :(

2, the controller, im using the 360 wired controller which works fine but i cant do manual aim nor can i use the hydrolics thing which is required for a missio so im stuck is there a way to fix this and make it so i can press start/pause to get to the menu without having to press the esc button on the laptop?

also what mods do you guys suggest im looking for something that will make the game look better :)

hes talking about GTA san andreas, not GTA IV. sorry Akuma.

find the patches for San Andreas, see if they help. if not, go in search of mods for it.

Didn't you upgrade to a quad core in your laptop? You shouldn't have a problem playing GTA IV since the recommended requirements are quad core(Q6600)+8600GT.

Yep, a quad core or a super fast CPU will do it.
GTA IV, being a port, is highly CPU dependant...

Folks, it's not GTA IV he's talking about. It's San Andreas.

I'm not sure how to fix your problem, I've got Vice City for my G1s and it runs flawlessly. Try reinstalling the game? Or updating audio drivers.

im not too bothered about the sound as i use my own music anyway, the most annoying thing is the controls having to press Esc on the laptop in order to get the menu is annoying.

i was considering getting GTA IV but with the problems some people are having i think ill wait to see what someone with a similar system does

I don`t recal of ever having used a patch for GTA SA, but I did not experience any of the issues you mentioned.

Look for a patch, or better yet, defrag your hdd. Who knows...

I have not had any issues with GTA SA either. The only mod you will ever need for GTA SA is ''Things to do in San Andreas before you die'' by Deezire. Just take a look at the list of fixes and additions this mod makes and it is not 100% finished yet:

    http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=1194

I also load a few Cleo scripts along side this that add taxi service, the ability to lock your own car doors, call for gang backup etc. Are you running your GTA SA in Windows 98 compatibility mode?

What Operating System are you using?

never had problem with GTA:SA either and i ran it on a pentium 4 with integrated video card intel.

by the way, i don't understand all of these gta 4 being a horrible port, but then again i am on a quad core+8800gt, and i am loving every minute of the game. beats gta 3,vice,SA by FAR.

Run the JkDefrag.exe application and the defrag will start. There is no GUI and you need to use a command window to control it (if you want it to do anything other than regular defrag). However, I recommend you use JkDefrag GUI instead to set up the defrag how you like: http://www.emro.nl/freeware/
