I have seen so many conflicting results. Some say its playable others say it isn't. My specs are in my sig. I know the games been patched. has that changed anything. Is it true the only way this game is playable with my setup is low at 800X600?
Is saint's row 2 any better?
Thanks

Saints row is a disgrace on PC.
A friend of mine bought it and had to return it, so poorly ported from the XBox that only very high end PCs can play it.
I have a medium quality PC, (Bioshock on medium, TF2 on high, GTA on medium-high) and saints row wasn't even PLAYABLE at 1024 resolution. I had to drop it to 640 x 480 to get a playable framerate.
I am shocked they could sell it at all. -
GTA IV gets better framerates with better + higher clocked CPUs. So basically, yes you can only play at 800x600.

Quad Core needed

If you want to see the real GTA IV then a 88m,98m gpu wid quad cpu. You will see a big difference.

Using proper grammar and spelling is good practice and helps people read your post correctly otherwise the meaning could get misconstrude during translation of the appauling text speak.
I'll convert the above paragraph so you can understand.

It is also very tough for non-native english speakers to understand (like me)

I think you could play higher than 800x600. Im stuck with a AMD Turion X2 and a ATI 3850m and im playing 1920x1200, Mix of high and medium with just Low detail distances and object distances and im rocking a smooth 20-32 fps outside and 35+ inside. Its perfectly playable, not the best FPS. But its very very playable and Im enjoying and it looks great in native res.
But yes, my CPU does strangle the game. All low 800x480 I get only 1-2 fps more than my current mix fo medium/high settings in 1920x1200.
Just make sure you get the 1.0.3 patch, gave a significant FPS boost for me. -

Also half of the Americans writes like that.
So instead of cursing me, curse the environment that made my habit to write like that. -

Now lets just finish this here. I dont want to create a rebel or something. -

I feel the CPU is the limiting factor in GTA IV. Anyway the optimization is shoddy I must admit.

Will my GTX 260M play iiit???
No seriously tho will this card and a P9600 (duo 2.66ghz) run this game well? Would a Q9000 be better? (quad 2.0ghz).
Btw enough grammar talk guys kthx -
Well...I have to say this...You are free to type however you wish to type.
But don't expect anyone to take you seriously if you have a question or advice and you type as if you are trying to mimic some sort of unintelligent street slang. -
Ha, I thought this was going to be some heated discussion of what resolution/settings to play it on, not a heated spelling class. Yes, good spelling and punctuation helps a lot and so can a spell check for those people who slept through English class.
Love the Matthew 7:3 reference and the first one sounds like a Chinese version. I personally prefer the King James version which is "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?". Anyway, enough blabber, how does it perform? Anyone out there try the GTA4 + 9600M GT combo?
The Q9000 - even though it is lower clocked than the P9600 - will be a lot better for GTA4 as GTA4 was designed for more than two cores. But most other games will benefit from a higher clocked C2D than a lower clocked quad. The 260M should handle it fine, maybe not at fully maxed out like a console but pretty close.
