GTA IV Discussion...

As far as I've seen trailers and what not, it certainly looks awesome!

I've been a GTA fan since the beginning, I'm currently playing San Andreas on my MBP and it feels awesome.

As much as I can figure it out, the October release will be for the damn consoles and we'll get it for PC next year, so I'm thinking it'll be DX10.

How would you say my MBP (sig) would stack up to the game?
And what do you think about the game so far?

The game definetly looks awesome...the past games since the 3 installment looked all squared up and arcade-like....however this...this looks like it might be as good as Saints Row..maybe even better...

 

It should do good. But I'm going to get it for the 360, as it will have exclusive content available for it.
I'm hoping the content is a bit thicker in this than previous games. I never felt there was much drive to finish any of the games after Vice City. San Andreas was great, but kind of got boring IMHO.

 

My thoughts: It's about time for a gameplay and graphics overhaul.

 

Indeed...should have happened with SA..

 

From what ive heared, the city will not be scaled as much. So you can be running for hours on end to get from one place to another.

 

.....if you guys haven't heard....GTA has been delayed into 2008....I think APril 2008.

 

I knew it !! Oct sounds too fishy for a great game like GTA

 

it certainly needs a gameplay overhaul
i personally think Vice City was better than San Andreas, although the latter had more stunt options (ie. base jumping off a building etc.) & other stuff

man that sucks, so close, yet so far. the only reason i got a ps2 was for gta 3, eventually san andreas. now i have to wait till april to get a ps3. was never a fan of xbox, plus gta iv is more on graphics so id rather get a ps3, plus thats also why i got an HD tv a few weeks ago, now this sucks

 

Awesome game. I'm not sure what i'll buy though. A PS3 or a XBOX 360.

I think you can't know that yet. But if the game really looks like the trailers, you'll need one hell of a card.

 

itll probably run... might not look like it would on the consoles though.

 

ps3...uummmeh...however 2008 seems to be the promising year for it...killzone 2 GTA 4 GT5...but graphics wise I heard that ps3 is worse than 360....your choice tho...

 

Rockstar said the PS3 verison is two weeks behind the 360 version,but by the time its released they will probably be identical. If you want the full package then 360 is the route to go but know Rockstar has made a deal with Sony to make L.A Noire exclusive for PS3 only.

 

all i know is that they were having trouble fitting the game onto a dvd.

maybe that problem is gone now, but i bet the "solution" involves your choice of dvd swapping or a hard drive. i could be wrong.

the 360's gpu (gpu) is a little stronger than the ps3. as a whole system though, its hard to say. the ps3's cpu is intended to do gpu-like things. there are other threads on this topic.

 

you guys already know about the price drops for both 360 and ps3...just wondering...$50 off which 360...with hard drive or without...cuz couple of months ago I sold my 360 for $350 (which it costs now ) with hard drive...so if it's the price of the new one..then the guy is pissed now ....but anyhow...

 

Feb of 2008 is the current expected release date. And from what I understand, the game will be two dvds/install on HDD for the 360. Meh to extra content, I tend to lean toward the PS3 generally looking smoother/running smoother, if not entirely having the better graphics. It has a billion games coming out end of this year and next year though.

 

This would be the first game on two dvds then right?

Anyways, I can't wait for it, the trailers and screenshots look awesome, and the more realistic gameplay looks great!

 

It's the premium 360. I don't think there is a price cut for the elite or the basic 360.

GTA...meh...i love the story line of the game, but it just got repetitive for me and I lost the will to beat San Andreas.

 

PS3 has a bunch of good games coming out this year as well.....exclusives and multis. I want to get my PS3 by November because most of the games I want are 2008 releases. MGS4, GTA4, RE5 (maybe 09), KZ2, so many others.

If I get it in November, I plan to get RFOM, CoD4, Warhawk if the price for RFOM drops.

 

this would be the first console game where the main game is on 2 dvd's.

metal gear solid 3 (the rerelease) filled up an entire dvd for just the single player game (it was a massive and brilliant game and also had a lot of cut scenes) so they included a second dvd for the multiplayer game and tossed in some other stuff as well.

im positive there are other multi dvd games. flight simulator x, maybe?

 

i just desperately want to play IV...

wish it was coming out in october still...

I guess I will keep playing the older ones until then. Perhaps the console price drop will actually happen and I will get a 360 in time for the launch. By then I should be able to get my hands on a copy of halo 3 as well.

if a ps3 was 249, i would totally buy it. how much is it now? 499? i would need a $250 price cut.

 

I'm pretty glad GTA IV was delayed - I was a day away from pulling the trigger on the special edition pack when the new release date was announced! Phew! Now I can devote the end of my year to Halo, Mass Effect and Bioshock!

 

Bioshock comes in a few days, so I know I'll have it beat by the next day after I get it, or 3 days (it's supposably 6-8 hours long I think) max -_-

Halo is going to be even shorter, probebly 4-6 hours to beat.

Anyway, that sucks that I have to wait even longer for GTA IV. They should really update thier website if it is going to be Q2 2008, since it still says october.

I just wish I knew when the release date for the PC version is going to be.

For consoles, hell.. you guys only have a month and a bit to go now.

I just hope that my laptop can run it in all it's glory when the PC version is released.

there was a x-mas deal for the 40gb model, an HDMI cable, rachet and clank:future, and a controller for $369.99 CAD. I got Assassins Creed with mine and it came to $470 with tax and shipping.

 

though i like GTA im just not interested in this a graphical imporve yeah thats good shame they will keep the same old stupid missions and make you play a gangster trying to take over the city...gets boring MP does seem kinda cool though.

is it on PC?

and you can't just go steal cars all over the place anymore (or it will have some negative consequences and more than just 1 popo star)

 

what that will make it better, it would be better if its on PC someone could make a mod so that all the rules are kept like if you steal a car and stop then you get a ticket or something hate how if yu steal a car then you are killed, too much like real life america for my liking
