Thanks For The information. I can't play before Sunday or Monday. So can anyone give feedback?
I can't go live without this, so I must instal it anyway -
I might say something about it in 58 or so minutes..

Loking forward to see it namaiki -
I installed the update but it is difficult to know whether it is just a placebo effect or better performance. I get about 42 fps on my laptop with it going down to 30 fps sometimes before and after this update.
However, I notice that I could higher some of the settings and still get decent performance but other than that, I am not sure.
I had to do a shaders tweak after this update (and 1.030) because all my shadows were messed up so let me know if that happens to you. -
Good to see they are still supporting it. I really hope they will release the two DLC packs for the PC version.
-
-
The recommended settings should just be ignored. They are about as realistic as the built in benchmark.

Is there any boost in FPS from this patch?

Nope..... no FPS Boost at all.FRAPS shows 32 pre patch and 32 post patch. so there you go. The game just feels more slightly stable and the input reactions are a little better, but apart from that nothing. But its good to see the effort to make GTA IV playable being present on Rockstar's part. I have always believed the PC is the Neglected Child of GTA 4. Make no mistake, it still is.

disappointing from rockstar.
They can fix the game but they wont do it. -

Prototype has a very large living city like GTA4 and it runs soooo much better and easier.
No draw distance issues, not needing 1gb of VRAM to turn up the settings.
The dropped the ball bad on the PC version of this game, but since it was a console port maybe they just couldnt do it right. -
Didn't really fix the loading time problem I've had since installing SP2. The first load takes enough time to make a sandwhich...

The AI is a cpu thing, A 3.6ghz quad core should take care of that, and with dual 4850's I still cant even dream of maxing out this game. Something is putting way too much demand on video memory that other games done need even with much more impressive textures and better graphics.
The game engine is in severe need of reworking, and if this is honestly as good as the engine can get it probably needs to be dropped and a new engine used. -
GTA 4 should be pored to CRYENGINE 2 or 3 and it will perform better and look better.
the best solution -

lol cry engine would be awesome in the next GTA *drools*

1.0.4 + nVidia 186.03 =

Yea, those drivers dosn't help me
At this point I can't get better results witout upgrading my CPU. You can clearly see that in my benchmark result. I stay Up-to-date with drivers now becouse they fix atleast bug(s) -
Shadow density of 16
What you will find is that lowering some of those settings while keeping an eye on the game screen to see how it changes, will give you much better performance with very little difference in how the game actually looks.
For example, water quality of medium compared to high will give you better performance with little difference. -
tuηay what i will do is
Set everything to high except for texture filtering to very high. draw distance to 50 and shadow density to 1.
that i suppose will give you a average of approx. 35 fps.
I have a shi*y CUP and i have like 15-20fps most of the time. at everything to high draw distance, view distance to 15 ,shadow density and car density to 1.
with a cpu like yours i should have at least above 25 fps -
My setup has given me a great experience though, heh... -
That should be their next patch, to support SLI/Crossfire, that is an absolutely given.
-

-
try it on and post the benchmark
-
Strange eh ?
-
lol i gues yes.
I read that vista SP2 is slower that SP1 at games, HDD benchmark and boot time.
i gues with SP1 your GTA4 will perform better -
-
benchmarks are usually wrong.
i hate when some one uses 3dmark as a real world benchmark tool. it OK but not as accurate as it should be -
What I said
GTA IV PC new patch 1.040 is out!
