Here you go guys, download this zip and unzip into your GTA IV folder.

    http://www.wikiupload.com/download_page.php?id=106170

    Backup everything first.

Now you can set ViewDistance to the lowest while stil maintain a high viewdistance and thereby get some nice performance boost :)

Keep detail distance, only lower the Viewdistance to the lowest i.e 1. Well one tweak I saw at GTA Forums so that one belongs to another person, kudos to that.

However I have tweaked the LOD of the Peds and cars too and other stuff. Try it out. I got the game to run smoothly at 1920x1200 res on my laptop. I have all options set to Medium except Textures set to High.

gta4 runs much better on a quad core. If you can upgrade go for it.

There's a folder in there titled Win32, is this fix 32-bit only? I'm not too familiar with the architecture of GTA IV.

I run the game in Vista 64 to utilize all my 4GB of Ram. There is no Win64 folder for this game at all, the game is 32 bit. So no worries, that folder replaces the one you have. Make a backup first of course.

strange zakazak that it doesn´t start.

killeruio I use Textures High, rest settings Medium. ViewDistance 1, DetailDistance 10, Cars 21, Shadows 0.

Shadows only has effect during night and lowers the framerate considerly, especially driving where there lots lots of lights. Like that busy street up north.

Have you updated GTA IV to Patch 1.2? Because this tweak only works with Patch 1.2

Oh I bought it for over 1,5 years ago and got it for 25000 swedish kronor back then, though with 3 years warranty. It´s cheaper today and you get 9800m GTX SLI too.
