Hey there
I'm having a problem getting GTA IV to run in Windows 7 RC1 64bit.
The initial error I get is SecuLauncher something or other [2000], basically the game won't start.
I've been looking around and it seems that installing the Visual C++ redistributable 2005 package that is on the GTA IV DVD should cure that issue.
However, when I try to install that package (even after removing all existing Visual C++ packages) I get an error telling me it cannot access the registry key. The error code is 1402.
I have tried to extract the contents of the visual C++ redistributbale .exe and run the .msi contained with in but the same thing happens.
The exact error is -
Does anyone out there know of a way to get GTA IV to run on Windows 7 RC1 64bit?Code:Error 1402.Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\0000210303000000000000000000F01FEC Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.![]()

Try installing the pack from MS.
If that doesn't work, you could try installing as admin and in compatibility mode (unless you've tried this already). -
Thanks I tired that, it installed ok but the game won't run stil.
I am the admin on my Windows 7 install.
The problem isn't the installation of the game though. Just that it won't install the Visual C++ package on the DVD due to the error I noted in the OP, and from reading elsewhere the Visual C++ package from the DVD not being installed is what is causing the Seculauncher error. I tried compatibility mode on the Visual C++ package on the DVD and it didn't help.
It could be something else that is causing the Seculauncher Failed to start application [2000] error though so if anyone else can help here I'd be very grateful.
