I have a q6600 (2.4 GHz), 4gb ram and an 8800 GT (factory overclocked). The game runs really well at 1680*1050, very smoothly on mediumish setting (very high rendering quality, medium textures, sliders around the middle or a little lower). Runs better in single player than online though, but both modes are very playable at those settings.

I have a similar system to "Cinner", and I've got to say, the game runs incredibly poorly for me -- perhaps my standards are different. I average around 30fps, which is completely unacceptable. I've read over and over that this is a very shoddy port and that people are having issues across the board.

There are now plenty of laptops that accept LGA 775 desktop processors. I think he had it right the first time.

This game runs awesome on my brothers M860tu with 9800m GTS, which isn't far off the 8800M GTX. He only has a P9500, and this game looks beautiful, I really don't see where all the bad hype about it not running properly surfaced from. Its a really good game, and bare in mind anything above 800x600 on low is better than the consoles, so just buy it, and enjoy it!

I never bothered to look up my framerate because it runs so well. Mind you, I'm talking about a desktop, not a laptop (sorry, forgot to mention that). I tried running the included benchmark but it won't run (crashes).

I'm sorry you find that unacceptable. Sounds good to me, especially for a game rendering this much on screen at any given time.

You should have no problem running the game at say 1440x900 and high details, due to the quad cpu.
Since the recommended system asks for a quad, my t8300 allows me to run the game at 1280x800 medium, and the cpu is used almost 100%..and stutters around.

I also have the Clevo D901C but its Q9550 @ 2.83 Ghz, 4GB RAM and 8800M GTX in SLi. Not sure how similar that is to yours. I got similar performance from the 180.84 and 185.20 drivers.

Frame rates are great. I run it at 1600 x 1200, Textures High, View Distance 30-35, Shadows 3, and Detail Distance and Vehicle Density at pretty much anything (about 50+ and 35+ respectively), as they don't affect frame rate much at all.

The benchmark gives me about 49 fps with that.

I'd like to run it at 1900 x 1200 but distant textures don't appear when I go above 1600 x 1200; that seems to be a bug.

The game has some strange, annoying glitches where textures right in front of you flicker between fuzzy and high-res, getting worse as the game goes on.

I think it benefits hugely from quad core too.
