GTA V was estimated to be released in the fall of 2010. IMO, GTA V will not have Crysis 2 graphics at release, it will probably have GTA IV graphics with all the shadow issues and glitches hopefully fixed. I'm going to make this short and sweet, just asking what we would hope GTA V to be, let's not hope it's a console focussed one again.
What I personally want:
-optimized for lower end graphic cards, it could be another Half Life 2 if they tried, which is extremely flexible on what GPU's it will play on
-glitches that make it look kinda unrealistic fixed (shadows, getting out of cars when door is clearly closed)
-better memory management (stuttering on 2GB RAM systems)
-no DRM would be nice, but they're so worried about someone possibly getting their masterpiece's for free, so probably a pipe dream
-check mark box in graphics sub-menu to enable or disable "graphic effects scaling with resolution"
-less CPU dependent, although the latest patches have made it so that you don't necessarily need a quad core to play it smoothly, it still is the game that heats my CPU and GPU up the most, Dirt 2 only heats my T7700 up to a max of maybe 75 CPU, 75 GPU, GTA 4: 86CPU UNDERVOLTED, 83 GPU

I dont care what they do to it. I bought gta 4 and the heavy stutter was so crazy it made me throw the game in the garbage in rage (after weeks of trying to fix)
I spend money on it, and cannot get a refund, so from now on, my policy is that if I ever spend cash on a poorly optimized game, rushed to the public for profit and obviously not finished, i will never buy its sequel. -
It's going to be console focused, no question. GTA has been since the switch to 3D.
-
I'd like to see AA. At least 2 and 4x.

With Dox's latest 195.62 driver on Windows 7 x64, my D901C is finally able to play GTA 4 without any stuttering and with the textures on High. View Distance and Detail Distance on 40, Vehicle Density on 30, Water on High, Reflection Resolution High, etc. With the latest patch from Nov. '09, GTA4 is playable.
It's not that it was a terrible port, it's that it was rushed. Take Two's fiscal year for 2008 was bad, so what better thing to do than to push GTA 4 PC out way early in Q4 '08? Anyway, I think they learned their lesson. Notice how a year after the game came out, it's finally playable for almost everyone? The game was forced out by T2 to appease shareholders. It needed 1 extra year in the oven. It just doesn't make sense that the same team (Rockstar North) did such amazing jobs on all of the GTA 3-series ports (only like 3 patches at most per game), and then GTA 4 is a travesty of a port.
The only thing I want in GTA 5 are dedicated servers for multiplayer. Microsoft needs to dump the P2P motto for GFWL and get it right. It might work on 360 (and even when it does work it still sucks), but every PC gamer's hardware is different. Let's layoff the current GFWL guys (or re-assign), and get the Windows 7 development team in charge of GFWL. I bet they will understand. -
Nothing really big, besides fixing what happened with GTA IV, but I did miss the parachute from San Andreas.
-
I wish they would fix the silly bug that happens ONLY with the Mobility Radeon HD 3650.
And I wish it was more optimized, naturally. -
-
GTA V? Already?
-
And hopefully I'll have my high end Clevo by that time. -
Will it be GTA V? I reckon it's gonna be called GTA: *put a city name here* unless there's a major improvement like going from GTA III to GTA IV. Hopefully, it will be less demanding so my aging m1710 still can handle the game.

Think of the old TV show Miami Vice, and you will see. -
Wait is GTA5 seriously coming out later this year and it will really be a remake of Vice City?

and Windows 7 ironed out all the bugs and performance issues, but i did hear that SP2 for Vista made the bootup experience and overall performance much the same as 7, does anyone know if Windows 7 RTM users will be able to install the service pack that will probably come out soon, before the expiration date?

if the xbox 360 gets "free" AA then they should have used some in forza motorsport. that game is very "jaggy".
i doubt we will see gta V in fall 2010. it might come out for the consoles at that time but not pc. -
I hope we dont have to log in online to play on PC
that really sucked
& would be nice if we had fill gas in the car lol
so we had to keep a eye on the gas too -

Be nice if running higher textures in the game was easier, and didn't require huge cards, the textures in the game at medium still aren't the greatest.

I'd like a less buggy game and less demanding game for what's it's worth. It's no Crysis.
-
How about less repetitive tasks such as driving people around? I found that the first island was soo boring, and unneeded.
-
So if GTA V will be released in 2010, I guess the people with 'normal' budgets (1000-1500€
would have to wait till 2012 to buy a laptop that could play it without lag?

As i said before, i think it will be more like Windows 7, not a drastic change in architecture, just a refinement.
-
I agree with the fuel idea. I've thought of that when playing and that would be great.
I think there should be also more damage in other situations than getting hit for more realism. Like running to long, staying in water too long and other things. I mean you only need a $1 burger to get full health. Would like to see him be able to sit too.
Another thing I'd really like to see are all 4 Seasons. Would be fun speeding on icy roads. Think of the accidents lol! -
paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
and that my GTA IV progress on Steam has been paused because playing at 570x320 sucks -

Buy a gaming laptop now and expecting to play bleeding edge games 6-months to 1-year or more down the road is not a good idea.
You want longevity and true upgradability? Build a desktop. -
Parachutes without needing to buy an expansion? I would enjoy that

They've gotten pretty greedy lately Rockstar has, if anything to reduce costs of producing another groundbreaking but piece of game, they should make the newest one based in the UK, where the design headquarters are based. For the record, IMO, there is still a serious memory leak if you need about 4GB RAM and maxed out page file to play it smoothly...
-
2010? I can assure you that it WILL be delayed.

I would love another GTA:Vice City! -

GTA: VC with a refined Euphoria engine with Endorphin transitions would be so awesome, i think pretty much one of the only reasons i love GTA IV despite it being a let down and one of the most finnicky games i've had to deal with, is the fun to play with physics. I started to hate static animations right from GTA:VC, and car physics weren't really that great in VC, but VC with 2008/2009 bloom, HDR, AA, and all the other bells and whistles that modern games have, will look so awesome.
-
I think for the next GTA, R* needs to hire some of these modders who are running wild with GTA 4 scripting. I saw a mod for police pursuits. Real police work, instead of you're sort of a cop who can also get in trouble with the cops. Lame.
Totally agree with playing around with the Euphoria physics engine = funny. You never really know just how far you can make someone fly by hitting them with your car. -

Yeah, i find the AI in GTA 4 for 2008 is pretty lacklustre, like if i sit just below a guardrail where there's a cliff, and cops are after me, i can sit there and cops will jump over the guardrail and fall to their death, i think i killed 20 cops that way.
-
Well if you dont want that to happen then dont do it.. For people like me who thinks its hilarious to mess around with AI and that a completely realistic one would be boring (It would be cops hiding behind policecars) its ok that the AI is dumb just not annoying and bugging.
-
I want some of rockstars old humor back into the game, GTA IV was far to serious IMO, Vice City and San Andreas were very funny.
-
I'd like to say that one feature I would like for the next PC iteration of the game is an internal modification manager. It should be very clear to Rockstar by now that their GTA series is highly fun to tinker with and modify. It's a royal pain to have to back up files and such. Plus, an internal management system would be able to undo all modifications if the player wants to play online suddenly. I think that would be great.

Better CPU and GPU optimization for sure, as well as allowing the user to tweak graphics to there hearts content, whether it's over the VRAM limit or not. I'm running 4 GB DDR3, Phenom x4 and a 5850 1 GB on my desktop and it runs quite nicely at 1920 x 1080 for me with maxed settings, up to a draw distance of 41 before I "run out of VRAM", but I still get some stuttering at times. People I think forget that the PC version does allow for a much more populated world than the console versions in your given area, so naturally the CPU power needs will be quite higher than the console counterparts in order to get good framerate. While the basic game is the same, in many respects the PC version at it's zenith really is a cut above the console versions in regards to the CPU needs, and in terms of graphics, it's really nice to have the better draw distance, much higher shadow resolutions, better texture filtering, much higher screen resolutions, not to mention the better potential LOD settings. It's not as simple as we tend to think like other multiplatform games. I think the PC version is quite fine, but does need to be better catered to computers that are around the system requirements of GTA4.
GTA V, What do we want?
