Yeah but i doubt an 8400m or and 8600m will be able to play the game with half enjoyable graphics, i would'nt by a game if i cant play it at above medium setting at native res.

Any screenshots of the PC version actually running in 1920x1200 or something like this? All of the review sites claim it looks ALOT better than the consoles, and there's no doubt about that, but I want to know if it looks good enough to warrant purchasing it a second time..

If you consider that xbox renders gta 4 in 720p and ps3 in an even lower 640 lines, getting a decent performance on a laptop at say 800x600 is still a major feat.

The reason I prefer laptop gaming is I can play wherever I am and I do travel a lot.

With the current state of the hardware, most decent laptops (with 8600gt) give you better or similar performance on titles like Dead Space, Fallout 3 etc that were released on many platforms. I see no reason why gta 4 should be any different or unplayable on a laptop.

I'm getting the games anyways since my 9800GT on the desktop but I'm also curious about how my 8700M GT DDR3 will perform on my lappy.

"Running perfectly on 3 year old machines" sounds good :) I hope it will still look good in mid-end GPUs though :(

I hope that the DLC that was announced for the 360 version will come to the PC version. In IGN's preview of the PC version, Major Nelson had said the DLC was 360 exclusive, I hope he's wrong because it is a Games for Windows LIVE title and should get the extras the 360 version gets.

So the 8400\7600 HD2400\HD3450\x1600 series should run it since you can reduce draw distance, turn off lighting effects and shadows and reduce trafic density. Might look a bit like GTA3 on the xbox though :p.

It remains to be seen how those cards perform and if lower tier cards can run the game though so don't go pre-ordering the game yet ;)

Haha. Remember when games on the original X-Box used to look AMAZING!? Gives me a sense of perspective. Been waiting to play it this whole time on PC, and I can't wait!

I told ya so. :) I had said in a previous thread and various other gaming sites that the released specs for GTA IV were incorrect. Assuming a computer equipped with a Pentium-M 760 and Geforce 6800 Ultra is on par with the Xbox 360 (it is, don't tell me otherwise), there's absolutely no reason why older systems and some with less than top-of-the-line modern cards cannot run this game. PC games lately have been coming out with some wild requirements when the reality is a bit lower...but the publisher/developer can easily cop-out of support by blaming hardware specifications.

Even Crysis had hardware specifications that weren't exactly in line with what could actually run the game. That same P-M 760 with 6800U was marked as not being able to play Crysis, yet ran it at medium with lower resolutions.

i sure hope my m9700 can handle it well. The dual 7900gs's i'm sure will not have much of a problem, its my my single core that i'm worried about, i will probably have to turn down the traffic density, i dont know what other settings would help out the cpu though...

It's likely that your system would :)

Anything that reduces the amount of interactive objects on the screen or their "interactiveness" for that matter such as physics or, and i'm just throwing this out there, "pedesterian density"; the less AI the better. Particles may also require some calculation on the cpu's behalf so mess around with that one too if they throw it in there.

Honestly i don't think this game is going to be anywhere near as visually stunning as crysis, i just hope it doesn't turn out to be another poor console port:\

It shouldn't cost too much more than half of what the console gamers pay... whatever that is in your country(35-40 euro here). Although Rockstar have quite a bit of hype surrounding this one so they might charge a bit more. As long it isn't a COD4 kind of scenario i'll be happy :p :D

They already struck gold with the console versions, anything they get from the PC is just extra money they don't really need because thier profits on this game have already so far exceeded thier developement costs. I bet it's going to be full price $49.99 though, they probebly won't lower the price even though this game was released what, 6 months ago on other platforms?

Over all though it seems like GTA 4 on PC seems to be targeted more at enthusiests with high end systems who want an experience that wasn't possible on the console versions, and they'll charge full price for that.

Nobody has said anything NvidiaGraphicsCardSeries-Wise yet.
You'd be surprised at how far can a 8600m GT can go, despite its "reputation". Boot up games like farcry2, dead space and fallout3 just so you can see, deadspace maxes out, farcry 2, only lower the shadows and shaders, same for fallout 3...
    its actually quite impressive.
