Is the GTS 160M worth 100 USD increase over 9800M GTS?

Like, a computer with GTS 160M (otherwise similarly specified as the one with 9800M GTS) costs roughly 100 USD more then a computer with 9800M GTS here.

I know GTS 160M has similar clocks, but since the TDP of 9800M GTS is 25% higher then GTS 160M, won't it mean GTS 160M will over-clock a significant bit better?

Also, GTS 160M is new card So probably drivers from nVidia will improve it's performance?

The GTS 160M is about the same performance as the 9800M GTS, and sometimes a bit better.

They use similar cores, so there shouldn't be any differences with the drivers.

The GTS 160M uses 55nm while the 9800M GTS uses 65nm, so the GTS 160M should be a little more efficient.

The 9800M GTS looks like a better deal for the money, but if you care about the name, the efficiency and the little performance increase, go for the GTS 160M.

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

I don't want expensive GPU's to wait 6 months till they come out in the sale. I need PC for school in a few months. Thanks for the help though.

Thanks for help and all, but I have one final question:

Would you take the GTS 160M for 100 USD +, or just keep the (1 GB) 9800M GTS? Both are 55nm btw.

If the 9800M GTS has 1GB and it's 55nm, then it's obviously a better deal.

Aren't those new nVidia chips already out?

GTS 160M also has 1gb GDDR3. I am really unsure..

Yes, they are already made, but it takes a long time for them to get into the market.

Sorry to hi-jack, but I have seen this card called 160m GTS or 160m GTX... Is there a difference or is it the same card?

Probably a typo, there is no GTX 160M to my knowledge. For $100 more, it's not worth just the die shrink (especially since 55nm is cheaper to manufacturer than the 65nm, hence should be cheaper).
