By the time they get there, they'll probably call it the GTX 380M/480M, because the actual desktop GTX 380/480 won't fit into a notebook. :p

I will reserve judgement on this card until I see some actual benchmarks, maybe it might not be what every one expects  (maybe it will), but still the pricing of this card will be a lot cheaper than the "old" 9800m GTX, so just that makes it much better in my book. :)
Now hopefully they will work in my laptop.

Oh man, I have been feeling that way since Nvidia put out the 9800GT desktop card. I couldn't believe it was just a die shrunk 8800GT.. they didn't even raise the clocks! And of course that whole 9800GTX then 9800GTX+, I just don't even trust Nvidia anymore, I'm buying ATI 48xx in my next laptop. I'm just upset because a few friends and collegues of mine were basically " tricked " into buying those cards because they thought they were upgrading from their 8800GT and 9800GTX, and of course they did not consult me first. So do more research you would think? but some people just don't get how hardware works, just like I don't get how a hydrogen car works. Also how they use old chips for new laptop cards is another trend they're working on. It just seems like they're ringing around the rosie on us is all. I get how they wouldn't want to name a next gen card the same as the old gen, but how bout a totally different name? and not something that is way better on a different platform.
ATI is being a straight shooter, no BS card designer right now, and I feel they are on a very good path this year.

And for the Gtx280m being 50% faster than the 9800mGTX? I could see it being fast in Devil may cry 4.. because that game LOVES clockspeed. BUT for a game like crysis that uses pure shader core horsepower.. id say 10%. Overall that card might be 15-20% faster than the 9800mGTX if you averaged it out with all games. The good thing about this? the 9800mGTX will drop in price quite a bit... honestly I think the Gtx280m just empowered the 9800mGTX even more for anyone that isn't out there to buy the video card of the week.
