I have a GTX 285M and it runs GREAT most the time, but sometimes when playing Crysis 2 it glitches for a second and then all of sudden my framerates drop to about 1 third of what they should be I go from 45-60fps to 15-20 and stays there... And the weird thing is after I exit the game it still happens - unless I reboot. This happened in the demo, but I figured it was a bug. It is happening in the Game now too.

Is the card de-rating somehow? how can I fix it besides a reboot? My temps are fine - hottest it ever gets is 74c when overclocked heavily (700/1100/1725). I noticed it WILL stop doing this when I return the GPUs to stock clocks, but this happens in no other game with my OC settings.

Using the newest drivers 267.24 Beta, but it also happens with 266.58

The game's broken or something. Ppl are reporting a lot of issues with it. You'll just have to wait.

Your clocks are probably being locked to 3D clocks (383/767/301). This happens to me as well when I overclock too high, but I get the error message "display drivers stopped responding..."

How did you get so high overclock btw? Overvolt? I can only overvolt to 1.03v on my 285m and my card doesn't get anywhere near your clocks stable. :(

Crysis 2 patch 1.1, did you get that? Maybe that fixes it.

I would suggest decreasing your overclock also.

Nvidia paid Crytek two million to ensure this game would run perfect on their cards. SLI works out of the box with this game with Nvidia's new updated drivers.

Crytek specifically stated, the high setting for Crysis 2 is made to run at 30-40 FPS at 720p on the 8800. The 8800 is the lowest denominator that Crytek developed for.

In other words, it should run flawless on your Nvidia.

After reading above posts , if your cards are downclocking that's the issue.

I have had weird freezes for a second as well and driver crash, but I cant know if it is because of my OC, since no OC programs work for me anymore and the OC is in the vbios. I have had no OC issues in any other game ever until this crysis 2 freezes...

No it could be an OC issue. Crysis 2 uses almost 100% GPU, which stresses it as much as running a stress test like Furmark. Extended periods can lead to problems.

If you get the error: "display drivers stopped responding..." your OC is definitely too high.

I've read a few threads already where people are reporting unusally high temperatures with Crysis 2 and videos showing that even with GTX 590 with GPU usage @ 99% on both chips. If Crysis 2 can stress a GTX 590 that far, it can easily cripple your Overclock.

I wonder if they were playing Crysis 2 on this overclocked GTX 590.

Crysis 2 was reported to have SLI/XFX problems ... so your best bet is to disable SLI when playing crysis till they fix that problem
