By that logic, anyone on this forum considering a 3610qm+Hd7970m laptop will overclock it as well, and will still smoke your 4ghz SB+GTX560ti no problems in gaming alone.

the point is, an HD7970m is a much more capable card. Either both on stock, or both on OC, the HD7970m will have more graphical prowress.

Unless a particular game is heavily CPU bound, you won't really beat the HD7970m with a GTX560ti.

So from someone on stock, it is realistic to expect over 15% performance improvement easily, and when overclocked, even more.

    I just did a quick 3dmark11 bench @ P level , got 4757 , (ati 5870@stock)
I dont overclock vga at all, I do o'clock cpus' , and this has allowed me to own
numerous graphics cards of which none have ever been faulty or damaged ...
cpus' were all o'clocked too, and none of those ever got damaged either....
so for me , its a good policy....
If the 7970m beats the 4757 score, then I'm happy ,

7970M will get P5600 in 3dMark11, so you should continue smiling. :D

    ... and even P5600 is considered low-average for a 7970m

A stock score for a 7970m hovers around 5800~ assuming you have at least a sandy bridge cpu.

    What are your specs mate?
Afaik we can break 7k barrier without tessellation.
Some people reached 6800-6900 with an heavy overclock that's far from being stable in games.
To be honest and realistic we should agree that a comfy stable overclock delivers around 6300-6400 points.
CPU score inflates the scores a lot so we should take a look at graphics score only.
Point remains, 7970m isn't meant to compete with middle end 560ti, it's mean to compete with desktop 570, and once OCed, its a pesky pest into 580 (stock) territory ;)

I suppose I should have been more clear that I was talking specifically about the 7970M regardless of its matched CPU, so 5600 GPU score. This isn't low-everage, this is par for the card, and really the only number we should be talking about when you are comparing GPUs.
