Hey guys, I am getting a laptop with an NVIDIA GTX 560M GPU and I was wondering, how well does this card work? What games can it play and on what settings?

I really just want to know what this card can take! (Without overclocking!!!)

It should be able to handle new games. And OC'ing the 560M should be a breeze. It should be able to handle 875-900 Mhz core clock and still staying cool (GPU temp.) A G74 with a 192-bit 560M would not have any problems OC'ing incase you want to glorify the graphics on a game such as Skyrim which is not purely DirectX11.

I bet you could leave the 560M 192-bit clocked at 875 Mhz without worrying about GPU temps. if you have a great cooling laptop like the G74.

Right now I just leave my 460M 192-bit clocked at 775 same as a 560M stock and temps. just sits at 73*C after playing for like 4 hrs., it idles at 35*-43*C :)

I clocked my G560m up to 850 (after originally thinking I wasn't going to OC) Temps seemed pretty reasonable except in Furmark, so I kept it there. It could easily have gone higher, and maybe it will after I repaste tomorrow.

So far I've seen a 560m OC up to 942mhz, so no doubt you have room to get more out of it. I wonder if anyone will hit 1000mhz successfully, and stable enough to leave that high all the time.

Could I get a quick explanation on overclocking? I understand that it is pushing a component beyond what it was originally designed for but how is it done?
Also, does it decrease the lifespan of the component?

    And to ElBlufer:
Reapply paste? Do you mean the IC Diamond stuff? You have had your laptop for maybe two weeks now, do you have to reapply that often?

I figured I'd save myself $25 and apply IC Diamond myself. I got the stock on my config.

EDIT: Also, I haven't really been checking FPS...I just figured I'd be getting and increase and didn't really feel like I needed to see what it is. I'll check it out the next few times I open The Witcher 2....now, just to find a good program for reading FPS...

^^indeed to save yourself 25 and get the ic diamond tube for less than half of that, and keep the tube is indeed a great thinking, and since I got mine for free, my new mbp is going to feel the power of [IMG]

^^It would be saving $30, but I had to buy a compound to take off the thermal compound well. If I'm going to do it, I want to do it right (and, I'm going to try to qualify for a tube of IC Diamond through that giveaway by posting info...might as well get some free paste).

Been running at 901/1802/1480 as my default. No problems. 72c highest I've seen it go on Crysis2 hardcore settings. 12% increase performance. -np8130
