Barely on par with 460M. Any rumors of the 580M?
-
I thought the 485 was their "580" for this generation?
-
It is a GTX 460M....as expected.
-
Based on that article, it should be called the GT S 560M. :/
-
good so I can chill now and buy 460M
-
Wow, it's actually worse than a 460m.... That can't be a 560m.... or at least it shouldn't be.
-
This card was showcased at Cebit with the new asus g74 and the new msi laptop. There's a lot of discussion and links about it on the asus forum. Apparently it runs like an overclocked 460, maybe a 470. not really worth it apparently.
Dont shoot the messenger, just what they're saying on the forums. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I am not going to lie. That score is impressive when you got the RAM Clocks running with 40.0 GB bandwidth. Either that or this is an all out extrapolated score.
-
Not really... it actually scores lower. You are probably seeing the big number and think that the GPU is stronger, but its because of the CPU. It has scores a bit slower (HR2.0 and 3.0 scores) than a 460m with i7 2630qm, and thats at 1280x1024. Things will get worse when you raise the resolution, due to the lower memory bandwidth (40GB/s is quite slower from the 60GB/s from the 460m).
It runs a higher core clock, but quite lower memory because of the 128 bit memory bus width.
At any rate, a 460m is a better card, mainly because it will handle higher resolutions better, and it is also a great overclocker. -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Looks like what happened with the 260m and the 360m. Bigger model number didn't mean jack.
Well, to be fair, the 260m was a GTX 260m, while the 360m was a GTS 360m. -
This is basically a downclocked desktop GT 550.
-
You mean GTX 550 Ti (/huge rip-off), or rather GTS 450.
-
128bits memory bus, what were they thinking :-x.
-
I don't think this is the 560M. I think it's the GTX460M special edition included in the ASUS Lamborghini VX7, which has 16GB RAM and 3GB VRAM
-
It is a 560M. This is from the Asus G74 being shown at CeBit with GTX 560M stated in bold.
-
"Interestingly, the Asus laptop was equipped only with 1GB GDDR5 and not the full 1.5 GB. Therefore, the memory interface was reduced from 192 Bit to 128 Bit and the performance gets a significant hit."...

Ya,it's only on par with the 460m and it would suck at higher resolution. The 460m will be more superior in handling higher resolutions =_="
I hope ASUS reconsiders and releases a GTX560m with 192 Bit and 1.5GB RAM instead. -
The 460M is barely faster, and neither of them is built to handle 1080p w/ decent settings.
-
My 460m has practically eaten everything alive at 1080p. Tf2 max, css max, bad company 2 (800/1600/1400) near max, batman arkham asylum max, just cause 2 max, and the list goes on...
-
With all due respect, the most demanding games that can cripple the 460m at FHD resolution are NOT on your list. I see no mention of GTAIV or Metro on the list.
-
Metro isn't fair because there aren't any laptop cards with the power for that, and since when was GTAIV hard on the GPU?
-
If I remember correctly, GTAIV needed both a powerhouse CPU and a high-end GPU to run properly with all the details enabled. Of course if I'm wrong, then apologies for "disrespecting" the 460m.
Supreme Commander 1 is somewhat old now, but I assume the high-end 4-series Nvidia cards and equivalent can max the game out regardless of size of map and number of AIs involved? -
Good. Now I can get the 460m in my sager without any regrets. Yay
-
The point was not FullHD with max settings. it was full HD with decent settings. I can already play Metro DX10 high settings at full hd with 30+fps, same for crysis and much more games. Sure I can't max all games, specially new ones, bit the 460m should be able to handle new games with decent settings.
Supreme Commander is MUCH more CPU dependent than GPU. Hell I was already using high settings with a lousy nvidia 9500m GS. It isn't exactly a demanding game compared to GTA 4 though.
Overclocking the memory will help with the resolution though. -
Taking chances here. Maybe it'll have 1,5gb and a 192 bits memory bus in the end, it's too early to say.
-
The 336 shader toting 570M, is the one I want to hear more about, asap.
-
Nvida 485m? Thats not strong enough?
-
It's not enough to max it out at 1080p, I mean.
-
LOL, you're going to be waiting forever for a new laptop. Although I commend your patience.
-
Well there's always the X7200 with SLI 485m's if you have the money to buy that 13 pound beast.
-
That's cheating though.
-
I have no real intention, to wait any longer than it takes for me to secure a machine w/ 6970M.
The only way I end up with a 570M, is if Nvidia officially announces it and Clevo picks it up before April. I doubt both of those will align, so... 6970M for me. I think.
I won't lie though. An Nvidia chip which can (presumably) overclock to the speeds of the GTX 485M, at half the price, is highly tempting. -
True. All I know is that I can get a machine with the 460m shipped to me in march. I have no idea when the 560m will come out. In addition, I have no idea what specs it's gonna have. A 10% gain would be worth it if I can get it within the month. Although, the chances of that happening are very slim.
-
I will say it now like I said it before, if you can wait 'till the beginning of 2012 then do it. 28nm is coming then and all GPU performance will get a nice boost.
