    I really dont think that nvidia would replace a great card so soon, the gtx 485m is awesome by any standards, however if the production costs would drop because of it, then it might make some sense

    If the thermals on the 580 are anything like the desktop version...that could be a big advantage with laptops as well. Most desktop 580's are at least 10C cooler than the 480 counterpart...

    I am more scared than excited by this annoucencement. Current High end GPUs from both vendors are beasts that require quite a decent cooling solution and consume enough juice.

    I can only imagine what sort of monster they will come up with, considering it is supposed to be a decent step up from 485m.

    Well, current 485m is already based on the newer better technology, and it is quite better than the old 480m already. Anything stronger will undoubtedly require more power and cooling than current high end monsters, and at what price? (literally).
