This has been really bothering me.
Love the anno series.
I posted a topic about these two cards months ago, this is different though.
So, on my desktop...
i7 960 3.2ghz
ATI 5770 1GB
12GB RAM
1280x1024 resolution
I get very good performance, no visible graphical lag, around 37 FPS constant, playing on High, fully zoomed out the entire time.
While on my newer Laptop
i7 2670QM @ 2.20ghz
NVidia GTX 580m 2GB
8 GB RAM
1920x1080 resolution
Fully zoomed out, Get full max 60 FPS over the oceans, but when I pan the screen over islands, the FPS drops to 20-30.
I dont think the Ati 5770 should be outperforming my GTX 580m...
Any ideas here on what it could be? Ive tried Vsync on and off, no change.
Over the islands, the GPU hits 85%ish but goes no higher, 62C temp, and a measly 7% over ocean. Havent tracked GPU usage on the desktop.
I tried the Nvidia driver frame limiting trick, to limit it to 30 FPS, and it still lagged when panning from ocean to island, no such problems on the desktop...
Argh.

First things first, your resolution is massively higher on your laptop, which makes a HUGE difference. So you could try turning that down on your lappy, but then you'd have to deal with the non-native resolution fuzzies.
GTX 580m vs. ATI 5770 on Anno 2070...
