So I'm close to purchasing a Laptop for gaming (Sager NP9150). So instead of getting the 680M right now, don't want to spend to much and I believe I can upgrade later. I want to get either the 675MX or the 7970M seeing as those look like the most bang for my buck. I'm leaning towards the 675MX due to the problems I heard regarding the 7970M under performing. Can anyone tell me if the problems regarding the 7970M have been fix and should I purchase that graphics card instead?

The 7970m's driver issues have been largely fixed. Remaining issues are few and far in between.

The 7970m is considerably faster than the 675mx. There really isn't much of a competition between the two. Get the 7970m.

675mx performs much more cooler from what I read ( = more battery life & silent). That is a big factor into choosing a lappy (I have 7970m though).

Gaming laptops aren't *just* for gaming, you know. I have a 7970M as well, but he still makes a good point about heat/sound.

Stock 3dmark11 6380 with 7970m??? What is your CPU?? (It must lift the pGPU score so much to get to that point)

If you plan on taking advantage of the other things the Nvidia cards offer then you can consider those points. I believe you can reuse the existing brackets and heat sink if you plan to upgrade to a 680m as well. However, purely from a gaming standpoint; the 7970 is considerably more powerful.
