Hi guys, I was wondering if the gtx 770m is worth it for me? or in general. The games I'm mostly going to be playing is like Final Fantasy 14 ARR on High/ Ultra and pretty much new mmo titles that comes out like Blade and Souls, Archeage, Cabal 2, and etc. I'm thinking about getting BF4 of course. but what do you guys think? I'm going to OC the 770m

770m will run all those games fine. You'll need to drop some setting down for bf4 though.

In certain games you will need to drop some settings, but it's an awesome card for the price point.

770m is fine card and it will run all those games.

Only game it might struggle with is BF4 but then again with a strong OC it should handle it well. OCed heavily it runs more or less on par with a mildly OCed 7970M.

depends on how much you're getting that machine for too
-
Thank you so much for your replies. It's because when I was in the msi gt 770m forums a lot of people were saying how they liked it at first and returned it for the 780m because 770m is weak.
-
Just the way some people are. -
People tend to have unrealistic expectations for products, happens when they talk themselves into buying something. Expecting the 770m to run 60fps maxed on bf4 is no fault of the gpu.
-
Just FYI, if you're planning on playing bf4 a lot you might want to get a 8970m or 780m. I play on mostly low at 1080p and I still get dips into the low 40s during 64 man tdm/domination. CQ and rush are fine though, 50+ min fps usually.

Really? Maybe I need to play it more on my 770m, I like it more on xbox b/c all my buddies are on there. I never dropped below 45 with high settings.

how does high setting look yeep I dont mind playing firstperson shooters at 35 fps

Sleeping Dogs high vs very high gtx770m msigt70 4700mq - YouTube
There's sleeping dogs, one of the heaviest hitting games out.
some metro last light, another heavy game.
Metro Last LIght very high no tess vs high with tess gtx770 msi gt70 4700mq - YouTube
That's on my gt70, recorded with msi afterburner -
it depends on your budget. if you can afford GTX 780M go for it, otherwise 770M is still a fine choice. And if you don't intend to do any OC at all then there's one less reason to get 780M.

BF4 has very little differences between the settings IMO.
-
NO, it will not struggle. It will give you 60+ fps in 64 player maps on high settings (vsync off, lightning and post processing medium). See my rig specs.

@Yeep I was actually going to get the gt70 hows the temperature for it? Does it ever hit 85-90 over?
@long I do intend to oc it! haha
@Stege how does yours do on ultra? and thanks! -
The only time I broke 70 was after 4 hours of The Witcher 2, gaming on my lap, had a blanket on my legs... Essentially suffocating the air ports.
Far as bf4 is concerned, there's not enough graphic difference between high/ultra to warrant the fps drop.
No temp difference while running a +100 gpu clock, with a more stable fps and +8fps boost on the bottom end -
@Yeep damn the msi gt70s temp is solid! I will definitely go with that purchase.
Also I was curious with something.. the GTX 680m how is it a lot more powerful than the 770m? If you were to oc the 770m to a stable clock rate is it possible to achieve the same performance as the 680m? -
An overclocked 770M can reach the 680M easily. -
I kind of assumed I'd push my luck on ultra, but I'll give it a try and report back. -

An overclocked 770M can reach a stock 680M. OC the 680M and it won't even be able to touch it. Especially if you push that memory hard.
GTX 770m worth it?
