    hello guys,

    I study in Germany and have been looking for a budget gaming laptop. I have narrowed my search down to:

    Acer aspire v5: i5 4210u + GTX 850M 4GB DDR3 { 700€ }

    Lenovo y 50: i5 4200H + GTX 860M 2GB DDR5 { 900 € }

    200€ is a lot of money for a student in europe like me.

    I want to know if the gtx 860m is worth the extra 200€ for a casual gamer like me. I usually play for about 2-3 hours a day.

    Games: Left 4 dead, skyrim, batman arkham, crysis 2

    would the 200€ be well spent or would i gain more by investing in a 70€ mSATA ssd for the acer?

    I realise the lenovo has a higher clock speed for the processor so would it be wise in saving a little more and buying the lenovo? or would the difference not matter for a casual gamer?

    Any other alternatives in this price range are also welcome :D

    Thanks in advance

    the 200 euro are worth the extra gpu power and especially the extra cpu power :)
    edit : casual gamer or not, the ULV cpus tend to throttle like heck and overheat when used in small cases, the lenovo still manages heat better than the acer and got more powerful gpu with faster memory :)

    Y50 for sure. It has a faster CPU and GPU.

    Also see if you can't get a Y50 with an i7 in that budget, or a Clevo W230SS and its rebrands.

    I would look on ebay or somewhere and try to get a 2nd hand Alienware or if you can save a bit more, 1100 should get you a refurb with R9 290MX... Both these options will beat the ones listed..

    I second both refurb alienware and clevo W230SS suggestions. I think when you start to hit the "gaming" laptop realm, lenovo isn't as viable. (just my opinion)
