Hi guys, i want buy Far Cry 4 and i play in 1600x900, can i reach High detail settings with the 850M? Plus, i saw some videos with the God Rays enabled and are just awesome, how many FPS i will lose activating them?

Oh, i have one more question, i have the latest drivers installed, (but i have problems since 344.11), i use Msi Afterburner to overclock, and i have some problems, i have to run it as Administrator, and this would not be a problem, right now i'm at +135 on core and +295 on memory but often it gives me strange results, like that the core is at 540 or says that my memory is at 65536, checking with gpu-z when i have these results says that my core clock is at default and my memory at +1000 mhz (without any problem, by the way ) when this happens, sometimes is enough restart the application, other times i can't do anything, even restart the pc doesn't work. Could someone help me? And i read somewhere that with nVidia Inspector i can pass the +135 mhz limit on core without a modded bios, how does it work? Thank you

hey welcome back jajo. You can play on ultra far cry if you aim for 30fps without aa cause you play in 900p but wait for few patches cause they need to resolve massive frame drops and stuttering especially while driving. There isnt any other way to overclock more as far i know cause i wouldnt flash it if there was some other way

Yeah at the moment. Don't even buy the game. Stuttering rubbish. My 680M OCed hasn't the horsepower to overcome the un-optimisation so unless you have a Oced 780M,880M or the 970/80M no point trying to play.

By next year a few patches should sort things out.

dude, I am running an OC'd 780M (i clocked it to the same speed as the base clock of the GTX 680....because that's what a 780M is: a downclocked GTX 680) and I get framerate stuttering even at 900p which is the lowest i am willing to go when it comes to resolutions. I even tried 720p and i still get stuttering. I don't think it's GPU thing though I have seen my temps go into the 80s. it might be a streaming issue but I don't know for sure. all i know is that it stutters at whatever resolution i tried.

TotalBiscuit's SLI desktop 980's have the hitching too. It's not GPU related.

AMD cards are so much faster than (comparable) Nvidia ones in this game, it's not even funny. So much for GameWorks™.

i think it might be the same issue as with watch dogs initially - streaming of textures and assets.

my 20% oced 460m can run 720p some things low, some things ultra(eg texture), 30-45fps(and thats in stealth mission in the woods, probably more indoors), still looks great for a peasant
NVIDIA godrays work 30fps+ without AA

Ok, at 720p i can get 35-50 FPS with SSAO and SMAA on High preset (with my overclock of +135/+295), probably if i look deeper into settings i can get better framerates, plus my game isn't patched, so i may reach 60 FPS :D, i have the stutter only when i drive, and the game looks great and fun, tomorrow i will buy it for sure!!!!

Yes, the optimization is good (exept for the stuttering), even if the graphic it's worse than Unity, i like it anyway and is much more playable. For one time Ubisoft made a decent job.

Downloaded the original game from Steam (thank you kinguin :p) now with patches and 344.75 driver installed, runs way better i have an average of 36-40 FPS on High 900p and God Rays enabled (they don't hurt much my framerate maybe 2-3 FPS) when a lot of things happening on screen, i have some drops, so i think that i'm going to lower the resolution at 720p to reduce drops and, who knows, maybe even 60 FPS stable :D

Yes a 750ti is an OCed GDDR5 860M... What do you expect? The 850M is about only 50% as fast as it...

Guys is normal that my game doesn't scale? In 900p, high and with SSAO and SMAA i get 35-40 FPS, if i try 720p with everything on Low i reach 45. How is possible?? Looking at Notebookcheck at Medium 768p i should get 60+ FPS, and they have tested the DDR3 version, so mine (GDDR5 + OC) should be way faster...

What is your CPU? Also unoptimized games (cough Ubisoft) tend to scale poorly.

I think it probably is. Far Cry 4 requires a quad core at a minimum. Is your CPU usage maxed out while playing?

No, never core 1, 2, and 4 are usually between 30-70% and core 3 sometimes (often to be honest) goes to 100%, because of the damned Uplay. Even if could be my bottleneck the thing that i don't understand is that the laptop tested by notebookcheck has the 4340M and the 850M DDR3, i don't think that a difference of 500 MHz can increase 20+ FPS

My CPU never went above 75C, and my GPU hardly reach 60 (usually stay on 57-59), all my cores are at 3 GHz and my GPU core and memory are always at 1089/1400, as it should be.

Is your GPU always at 99% usage or does it drop when FPS is low? If so, that bottleneck on CPU thread 3 is probably limiting it.

No is always at 100%, anyway i don't care anymore, i looked into settings and found that i was using the MSAAx4, i changed to SMAA and now fps are always 45+ with always on high at 900p, and is enough for me :D. But thanks for all your help, i really appreciated it :)
