"Just because you can doesn't mean you should."

I've been scouring different driver modification forums trying to figure out exactly how to make this happen and have had no luck; I can get past the compatibility check but the graphics driver installation always fails. When trying to manually install the graphics driver in Device Manager, it gives me this error:

"The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering."

    I'm using 347.09 and a modified INF from LaptopVideo2Go.

    Relevant information:
    Dell Precision M6700 (i7-3920XM, BIOS A11)
GeForce GTX 880M 8GB GDDR5 MXM (MSI), TechPowerUp info here
    Hardware ID in Windows: VEN_10DE&DEV_1198&SUBSYS_053F1028&REV_A1
Windows 8 64-bit (not yet upgraded to 8.1, wanting a solution before spending time making the upgrade in case I have to reformat)
Note that this is using the RGB-backlit IPS panel and eDP internally instead of LVDS.

Interestingly, GPU-Z lists the revision as A2.

Not looking for someone to do the heavy lifting for me necessarily, just tell me what I need to modify to get this bad boy up and running. Help is greatly appreciated.

Instead of just using the inf, download the whole driver release from laptopvidoe2go forum, disable driver signature check thingie if needed.

If it boot into windows, there is 0 reason why it wont work.

Edit: it really sound like driver signature check~

Just tried disabling the driver signature check. It started installing the graphics driver and then failed again, just like it had the previous times.

Dustin, try Mr Fox's Desktop driver mod...

Download the desktop 344.75 driver from here: NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL
Extract the driver and replace the inf file with: http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...780m-880m-980m-mobile-gpus-display.driver.zip

See if it works for you this way.. Otherwise, you'll have to mod your own notebook driver, again I'd suggest 344.75: NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL
Mod the INF: Hardware id of yours is : 053F1028, replace one of the GTX880M ID's with 053F.1028 at the end in the inf file and it should install..

Modding notebook drivers with the hardware ID wasn't working. Mr Fox's desktop driver mod seemed to do the trick. Will have to study exactly how he did it so that I can replicate it with driver updates, but it worked.

Dustin, it might be worth Pming Mr Fox and asking him about the method.. Also it appears that he will be doing this for quite a while so you might not even need to do the modding :)
