It would appear Nvidia has quietly launched their new GTX 965M graphics card! It does not contain the GM206 architecture but is a GM204 card with only 8 of its 16 SMMs enabled for a total of 1024 cores. Links are below:

Both the just launched Aorus X5 and the GE62 from MSI already have the GTX 965M. The Aorus has it in SLI while the GE62 has a single 965M. Other manufacturers have since released many models as well.

    GTX 965M Specifications: (from NoteBookCheck)
    GeForce GTX 965M
    Process 28 nm
    Architecture Maxwell (GM204)
    ALUs 1024
Core clock 924 MHz + Boost
    Memory interface 128 Bit (GDDR5)
RAM capacity up to 4 GB(?)
Memory clock (eff.) 1250 MHz (5000 MHz)
    DirectX 11.2

I have a feeling that the X5 is going be even worse then the X7 unless they do something miracolous to improve the cooling.. That CPU throttling bug also needs to be removed.. 70C is too low to have the CPU throttle.. Whichever moron that did that needs to be shot for severe incompetence...

Agreed. 15" is just a little too small for SLI. They could have probably gone for a single 980 or 970 and it would've been a great product.

The reason they went with two weaker GPUs in SLI instead of a single stronger GPU is to spread the heat out.

What by making even more heat? I think it was kind of idiotic to go for SLI and have such a thin chasiss... 15" notebooks with SLI is nothing new but honestly, you need to make the chasis a bit thicker to let heat be removed more easily... Also it has been proven that a 15" chasis can deal with a 980M like the P650SG is done.. If Gigabyte and Arorus didn't try to make their notebooks so absurdly thin, it wouldn't overheat.. Clevo got the correct thickness and have done a great job.. -10000 for Gigabyte and Arorus...

900m chips definitely are cool running, and I think a single chip is a much better option than SLI any day. But in a 15" it isn't a bad idea, you get twice the surface area for chips that are likely 2/3 the TDP of the 970m, so twice the cooling potential for 1.5x the performance at not much more than the same TDP as a single chip. But I'd still like to see results from the Aorus SLI.

The Nivida GTX 965 is a step up for Nvida, supports windows 10 direct x 12 with feature level 12.1, the Nvida GTX 970 and 980 and a ti are the only ones I have read about that support Directx 12 and FL 12 +,, from notebookcheck

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-965M.134120.0.html

" Although the GM107 and the GM204 both belong to the Maxwell generation, the newer and larger GM204 has several additional features and changes. Aside from the improved polymorphic engine in the SSMs, it is also the first Nvidia chip to support DirectX 12 Feature Level 12_1."

I seen an Acer nitro get discounted $300 buck loss to get rid of it as it has a GTX 960 and thus fall short of Direct x 12 feature level, expensive 11.1 FL.

The other problem is just because one has one GTX 965 +, its still at the mercy of game code writers to take advantage of these tweaks, otherwise 11.2 or less.

One thing I know about cutting edge technology, one has to be careful one does not get sliced.

The good news is with Direct x 12 out there, the newer graphic chips nvidia GTX and non GTX 1xxx should be capable, gtx probably all of them in 2016.

    Cheers
