Im going to be buying a laptop soon and i found the msi gt780dx's and i thought i might just go for it instead because its way cheaper. I really dont care about IVY B anyways.

So my question is, how big of a difference in % is the 670m over the 570m?

    Thanks.

The only difference I've spotted is higher clock rates. Otherwise it's the same architecture, same fabrication (40nm), etc. I'd say the 670M is maybe 10% faster.

The 670M is literally a GTX 570M, with absolutely no changes. All Nvidia did was reflash the card with a new name and bump the clocks up a few percentages, but they have not increased the potential voltage or used a better core.

So you can easily ignore the other card and take the less expensive machine with the 570M.

and after getting the 570m you jump over to mvktech.net and modd your bios so you get the same settings as the 670m or even flash your card so it becomes a 670m :)

Or just leave it stock. It is quite good at stock speeds.

I think you're talking about the 675M in relation to the 580M. The 670M is a slightly overclocked 570M.

    570M+reflash=670M
If you're not sure which to choose between the GT780DX and GT70 then you should also look at the other differences. Besides the Ivy Bridge-CPU update that you don't care for there would also the new mSATA-option or the Killer Wireless-Card. I think that there are also some other minor differences in the build quality(exterior) but if you're getting the GT780DX much cheaper than that would be your better option.

You can get the killer wireless card in the older notebook as well.
