Wow, nice. Glad they're going 64-bit to not limit themselves. I never got much into GalCiv 1 or 2 but I did play them and liked the concept. Hopefully this will be easy to get into for newcomers.

This is certainly good news, but after Elemental/Fallen Enchantress which I really didn't enjoy, I think I will need a bit more convincing before I blindly open up my wallet again for any Stardock game in the future.

I'll just wait for more info, first.

I hope they drop the fuel usage, I really do

otherwise its good news, I was hoping for a new strategy game and here it is! I think all the complaints about the limitations of the current engine is what prompted them to move for the new 64bit engine, I remember seeing the several threads about the lack of 64bit in SoaSE rebellion

Interesting news. I liked GalCiv II (though not as much as Civilization III/IV), so I'm interested in what they have planned for GC3. It's time for a large-scale strategy game with a 64-bit engine! Wish Civ IV had had that; I'm surprised they left that out of Civ V and pursued DX11 instead, so I'm glad Stardock is leading the way forward in that regard. The AI that figures out what it's doing when you're making your moves also sounds promising; poor AI strategy and long AI turn times are always issues with strategy games and this might help with both.

Stardock's games have always addressed niche crowds, no surprise here. Their games have this indie vibe and no bells and whistles, and they lack the AAA's spit and polish. Similar to, but not as extreme as, Paradox.
