OK Folks. So I'm about to disappear to another country for a long period of time (year plus). I am also just getting a new laptop. You can check the signature for specs.

The question is, what games should I buy before I go? Here are some points to note:

-I'm pretty much resolved to get Oblivion. (Shivering Isles Worth it?)

-I may or may not have high speed internet/ I'll be on the other side of the world and connecting to English speaking servers may still be an issue.

-Dipping back a while is not a problem. Ex. I was considering Doom 3 b/c it was cheap and I never really got a chance to play it.

-I want to be able to play the game very cleanly on my specs. I.E. looks good, good fps.

Thanks in advance for all the advice. Looking forward to the suggestions.

get both doom 3 and quake 4.

if you are going to be gone a whole year- you might wanna pick up hl2 and episode one.

i mean, there is not really anything that wont play well on your computer... so anything else you want.

edit: maybe pick up RE4 if you haven't played it anywhere else yet. age of empires III if you want a strategy game?

    Fear is fun, go ahead.
