Im debating on which game to go buy..

WoW (may wait on the new version)
    - I've only played the original version a few years ago and got to lvl 40 and that was it. Very addicting

    Starcraft II
    - Never played it, or the older one.

    TF2 (or other steam game)
    - I used to play this a few years ago on my old laptop and it was awesome. I used to play CSS 24/7 as well.

I have a MBP 13'' 2.4gz. I know its not a gaming machine but it should be able to handle these games at moderate res.

If it's gotta be out of those 3, my vote goes to Team Fortress 2. They've added so much stuff in the past couple of years, and there's more to come.

    Also, hats.

Doesnt have to be those 3, but those seem to be the most popular and ive had experience with 2 out of the 3. I like those types of games, with awesome online play.

I'll also be needing mouse. Plan on hitting up best buy or gamestop later today

Problem with World of Warcraft is you still have to buy the original + expansions to get the new content you mentioned. Kind of gets expensive real quick. My vote is for Starcraft 2, as many NBR folks play so you can find someone to play with easily.

Yeah WoW is a money pit kinda. $15 a month plus buying the burning crusade, Lich king, and the new one coming out.

If starcraft is the type of gamplay as the pre WoW warcraft games were, i'm down. I like the building/upgrading your own base type thing (if thats how SCII is)

Starcraft is the exact same genre as Warcraft. If you liked them you will Love StarCraft.

I would not get WoW... It is way too expensive due to the monthly fees, expansions...

I would say either Starcraft 2 or Team Fortress 2

WoW is not a game, it's a drug. You can do it alone, you can do it with friends, if you do it with jerks you get pissed off and argue, it quickly drains your money, and at the end of it you have to ask... are you really having fun, or are you just doing it to get your fix?

I mean... it's a freaking GRINDFEST! You know you'll end up doing things you really don't want to do, just to get that extra level, or that special item... why play a game you don't want to play?

In any case, good choice on SC2. It's probably got the most longevity with custom maps and multiplayer, and I'm having lots of fun with it.

Dunno what your talking about, I enjoyed WoW for 5 years before I moved on (to starcraft 2). Its the same as most any other MMO, subscription, grinding, all comes with the territory. It is a ton of fun with friends but it can be quite addicting (as most any game can be).

Just set specific times to play and not play if it worries you that much and your good to go. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean others won't like it.

But see, it's a drug. So you think you're having fun, but you're really just destroying yourself! ;) :D

Starcraft is pretty fun, ive completed a handful of missions so far. I've played online once and of course lost. I'm not getting the whole "what to build/upgrade first" yet. Also i must say ITS A TIME SPENDER. I tell myself "okay 1 mission" and that mission turns out to be 30min. with all the skits.

Dont forget WoW kills. dont forget the poor soul who literally died cause he was playing WoW and couldnt stop. plus they condone the killing of billions of helpless animals. go kill 500 boar, next quest go kill 800 wolves.

    just a crying shame

RTS all the way baby. R.I.P. Ensemble Studios (Age of Empires 1,2,3,mythology ect.)

TF2 is a blast anything from orange box is reccommended

Age of Mythology 2 would have kicked so much a**! ;)

And i second both Starcraft 2 (Not played yet btw) and Team Fortress 2.
You can also get all the other Valve Steam games cheap with the Valve Complete Pack.

Incidentally, I believe Starcraft was supposedly responsible for people dying of (dehydration? malnutrition?) first.

The WoW is a drug comment i totally agree its total madness money draining and if you still play it you will always refuse to accept it just the same way a drug works and that is the biggest problem. 2 years of guild leading led me to lose around £300 and gain around 5 stone. Got both back now so dont waste your money!

To be honest get Starcraft 2 and maybe look into Bad company 2 as well im pretty addicted to that at the moment and the online play although it has its flaws can provide hours of fun along with Starcraft 2 you wont need to have a social life for quite a while!
