Ok im having a little trouble. Im looking to buy an actual game that i can play for a while. im thinking about some FPS or other action packed game (i already have 3 RTS and will buy WIC when it comes out).

Im looking into Halo 2 but it costs too much. $50 for a 3 year old game isnt worth it in my opinion. but $30 probably is. Does anyone know where i can get a $20 discount on the game?

Also does anyone have any other recomendations for good games?

You can pick up FarCry for $10 at Ubisoft.com these days. It's relatively old, but still one of the best FPS's out there, and at that price point, you can't go wrong.

No no no....Halo 2 Vista isn't even worth it for $30, sorry.

A site like eBay is probably your best bet if you want Halo 2 specifically. Otherwise, I find that Circuit City has lower prices on games than places like Best Buy and Walmart.

I highly recommend downloading some emulators and roms for older nintendo systems. The N64 still has the greatest games ever made (The Legend of Zelda OOT) imo.

Best of all, their free... but some argue that you should own the cartridge before you download them.

Don't forget Quest 64. Oh I love that game. I might get an emulator just to play that game.

Also if you get an emulator go to walmart or target or something like that and get you a cheap usb controller. You'll have alot of fun. Trust me.

But keep in mind. If you don't own the game it is illegal to download and play them. I'm not promoting acts of piracy and theft.

    Half-Life 2

If you haven't played it then you are missing out on the greatest game of our time.

    Deus Ex. The original.

Rome: Total War. It's a RTS but I played it for 6 months straight.

Call of Duty 1/2, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Battlefield 1942. All great World War 2 games that are fairly cheap now.

Seconding Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.

I'm going to have to disagree with HL2 being called the greatest FPS of all time. I think people are just being nostalgic for the greatness of HL1 when they say that.

Ive played HL2, I have the demo on my comp (played the full version at a freinds house) is pretty good, but once you get over the awsomeness of the grav gun the game gets a little borring. But to that end im realy thinking of getting it just because it has online as well.

I have a crapload of RTS, AOE 1-3 with all the expantions (save for The war cheifs) and AOM, Starcraft.

I have the Full version of halo 1 and its awsome, So i was thinking of getting H2v, But ya $50 is way too much. i guess ill wait for a price drop.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Everyones entitled to their opinion but my enjoyment of HL2 had nothing to do with the original and everything to do with the immediate game design, gameplay and storyline.

Revolution I beg you to try HL2 from the beginning and I'm willing to bet you may change your opinion.

Im gonna go play some HL2

See, the storyline didn't really do anything for me. Hmmm. The Source engine is impressive, though. That's the best part imho.

    I honestly thought Half-Life 2 sucked.

But everyone to their own I guess.

Hl2 was a beutiful game, but the story line wasn't great. Too many times u were left wandering around all by your self with those stupid puzzles and don't get me started on the final boss.....jeez.
BTW: never played hl1  I wanted to buy it when hl2 came but couln't find it in any of the retail stores.

You'll have to try eBay, garage sales, etc if you want a boxed copy. It is sold off Steam for $10 however.

http://www.gogamer.com/ has great deals all the time, especially through its 48-hour madness(limited time when huge discounts apply for certain games, different each time). Halo 2 is selling for 20 bucks right now there as well

Personally, I think it was a little bit better. Half-Life 2's swiss cheese storyline was rather confusing.

Yes, the graphics suck, but they won't give you cancer of the eye. Have you ever played Super Mario 64? Or have you rejected it for the dated graphics?

Be sure to get "Half-Life," not "Half-Life: Source." The ":Source" remake uses the new HL2 engine, but it makes the game uglier and more glitchy than the original.

Ya, a little confirmation would be nice, they don't even have a decent size pic of the box to look at and they have another version of Halo 2 for full price listed the same but with a different box in the picture.
