At home I have a 512 dsl connection and have loads of fun with BF2/BF2142 on my P100. Me and my friends meet at a hang out and just pitched in for a 1mb dsl on a linksys router.
"We" are 7 and all have laptops. My friends are not into games at all, untill they saw me on the battlefield. Now they all want to play. The thing is, the best VGA out of the 6 is a ATI 9000 with 28MB !!!. The rest are intel but with 128 shared. We are looking for a game to play online or through LAN.
    Any suggestions?

Then BF1942 ought to do the trick. Or command and Conquer Generals. Best of all might be Counter Strike 1.6, NOT SOURCE. Also some Star Wars FPS games to choose from, your pick.....

UT 2k3 should run. Also try Enemy Territory, its good fun, and not very hardware intensive. I would say CS 1.6, but it requires you have seperate keys, not worth it for a single LAN party.

Being with those specs your probably best off looking for old games, rather than new ones that can be brought down to your requirements. I suspect there are several games you could bring down to your specs, but they will run choppy and in pixelation mode lol.

Just to name a few, and this really depends on what genre your after.

Lan games that you shouldn't have much problem with are Quake, Starcraft, Aleph One, Command and Conquer, Terminal Velocity, Warcraft II, Master of Orion 2, Descent I and II, and CS but not source.

Your also going to notice most of these are before game companies got anal with uber cd protections and checks to ruin lan play.

I would say UT2003 or even UT2004 if the integrated Intel can handle that. UT is very fun and very easy to set up.

in theory ut2004 can play, but it really is more of a chore on integrated, and if you add multiplayer the frame rates will suck.
2003 should be fine, but ut original kicks @ss. i played that every day at my school, like a 4th pereod lan party, we had two classes against each other (plus the few people who played from the library) it was alot of fun, and would run perfectly on your systems.

Nope, the Intels will run it 800x600 perfectly fine. Extreme GPUs might have a problem with it, but the GMA900 should be right.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm going with UT 2004. I have it and will try it today.

Starcraft is a really fun multi game. C&C Generals (or Zero Hour), CS.
