I'm trying to decide on a game to get to mess around with for the holidays so I'm asking for people's opinion. I'm listing the ones I'm thinking of at the mo but feel free to throw something else in if you think its better:

    Dead Space
    Unreal Tournament 3
    Left 4 Dead

    Cheers all

left4dead is easily the best choice if you have internet available. keep in mind its basically online only. ut3 is distant second, and its also basically online only.

dead space is an even more distant 3rd (but its not BAD), and its a single player game.

    Left 4 Dead is amazing.

I thought dead space was really good as well. Its slightly differnet than the typical fps. The change was nice. Definatley worth playing.

The replayability is in Left 4 Dead.

I love Left 4 Dead, but starting to get bored with the SAME levels over and over. Valve, we need more!

Here is the list of games I recently bought these past month - 2 months:

    GTA IV
    Left 4 Dead
    Fallout 3
Crysis Warhead (Already own and beat Crysis)

    On my list:

Call of Duty: World At War

IMO, any of these games is an A+. I LOVE every one of them, they are all great. Fallout 3 has to be first, and a close 2nd GTA IV, and Left 4 Dead 3rd.

In my opinion all the games xTank Jones16x and others have listed are brilliant. If you look at reviews they are getting 9/10s. Choose the game that best meets your interests as a gamer as the games very hard to separate on quality.

GTA IV-Personally this would be my last choice. This game needs a lot of power to run and the first patch has only fixed a part of the problem. I myself will buy this eventually, once a few more patchs have been released and perhaps once I have a more powerful computer.

Left 4 Dead- Made to be re playable but due to only having four 'storys/campigns' each lasting an hour you'll be wanting more content after a few weeks especially if you play heavily. Basically online only if you want to get the best experience.

Fallout 3-RPG fan who likes a bit of first person shooting should pick this, good replay value due to being sand box. The game developers have already specified that there will be download able content for this game with a release schedule (look at wikipedia for this). Note: No mulitplayer

Far Cry 2- More FPS shoot than RPG when compared to Fallout 3, is still sand box but not to the extent that Fallout 3 is. There is multiplayer but I don't imagine its as possible as Call of Duty games.

Call of Duty: World at War- In terms of gameplay this is probably the worst of the five. The singleplayer is short with little replay value. The multiplayer will be popular but many have bashed it because the multiplayer can feel like no more than a mod. I am going to get this once the price has halfed (basically next christmas).

    Best singplayer- Fallout 3
    Best multiplayer- Left 4 Dead
    Best overall-???

I myself will be getting Farcry 2 and Fallout 3 first because I find my small game collection lacking in singleplayer content (half life 2 being my only decent singleplayer experience and only having decent internet for half the year its the sort of thing I need).

If you liked CoD4 a lot, or never played it at all, then get WaW. The SP is quick but fun and tense, but you buy this game more for the MP, which is excellent and manages well even in packed ~40 player matches. I like the ranking system so you unlock the better weapons as you go, and by the time you hit 65 you should really have the hang of things and know the maps, which are well done.

left 4 dead should be getting the SDK released soon, so hopefully you'll see many new maps and campaigns- possibly new weapons or characters or even infected.

    the game is awesome.
