    I want to make my own adventure/point and click/puzzle video game. I've searched amazon.com and found "darkBASIC". But it isn't vista compatible. Is there a game making software that is vista compatible, makes point and click games, and is avalible in a store in U.S?

    Go to your library and borrow a book on Visual Basic.

    For point and click, Visual Basic is good. For most other things, you could use the Allegro library in C++.

    Gamemaker and Multimedia Fusion should also work.

    There's always Flash, but it'll be expensive. You can go the free route with Flex, but I dunno how easy it will be for you to set it all up. I tried myself a few months ago and I couldn't figure it out.

    Definitely try learning a programming language. It'll take you a while, but the skills are invaluable.

    ^Don't you still need to buy programs to put your new skills to use? I figured to cut the middle man and buy the software from a store. I just can't find nothing that's vista compatible. and I'm not a big fan of downloading stuff off the internet... long story.

    I've used DarkBasic before and it's a fun toy, but not much else. If you want to go into game design, you would be much better off learning a programing language. I'd suggest you start with Java, which is free and pretty easy to use, and then move up to more complex languages.
    As Prydeless said, you technically can use Flash to design a game, but it would take a very long time and Flash is pretty expensive.

    ANSI C, C++, C#, Ada95, Java...

    They're all nice for game making...

    Then again, there's also RPG maker xD

    No, Phil. I can't make games like the pro's. I'm too stupid for that. Just want something to pass the time with. I have a story to tell and I want to tell it through a puzzle game. Where you solve puzzles to advance in the storyline, you know? Something like Myst. Not that Myst has a story :)

    Anyway, does DarkBasic work with vista?

    Beat to it by one post!
    I used to use it when I was younger - it starts off pretty slow but if you spend an hour at it every day, chances are in two weeks you'll know enough to make your puzzle game.
    It can be as easy or hard as you want it - it's really diverse. You can fully code everything or drag and drop icons which do the coding for you.

    I didn't really understand what you said, but I guess you want image editing?
    Try The Gimp and there are tutorials for it here.

    newworlddynasty.com isn't a point and clicker, but is still fun to play with nonetheless.
