    I recently got a game called Trine, which I was a little hesitant to buy because it didn't seem like my normal type of game. I wanted to try something new though and it turned out to be a great game, very engaging for me.

    It also reminded me (slightly) of playing the old Castlevania games on my NES/SNES. I really enjoyed the action/RPG side-scrolling fun.

    Are there any more recent games like this someone could recommend?

    I personally found world of goo quite entertaining in its funny sort of way.
