    Hi guys,

I finished F.E.A.R. last night. Was a little surprised I was through it so fast at the end, so now I need some new game to play :D

I already thought about the Add-on, but I think it might be better to play something else first so I don't get bored by the Add-on which seems to be pretty similar in gameplay, settings and all. Right?

I liked FEAR for its horror elements, I heard Doom3 should be even better. And additionally, it costs virtually nothing anymore :) So, this one is my favorite, kind of.
I also wanted to buy STALKER once, but it's still expensive. Is it woth it? I heard a lot about bugs ans issues. Are these gaone with the recent patch? How is the game itself?

So, these are my candidates, but perhaps anyone has a completely different suggestion?

It should be a first person action game, not with too much tactics in it, but also not only stupid "bang bang". I already played CoD 1+2 recently, so I'm kinda done with WWII-games for the next time.

    Thank you for your suggestions!

Yeh STALKER is quite buggy, even with the latest patch and the framerates can be a pain but overall it's a good game. Very different from your typical FPS. If you're into scary games try Condemned: Criminal Origins.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Is alot of fun. But its not just your run and gun type of game. Its more how you say... strategic. And its REALLY BUGGY!!! And Quake 4 is fun, and so is DOOM 3. Doom, as you know has a reputation for horror, and Quake 4 gives you some scares here and there. Half Life 2, and Half Life 2 Episode 1 is good also. But it is a game that will make you think :)

And the battlefield series is great.

    Also Halo and Halo 2.

And Condemned Criminal Origins is pretty scary, and at the same time fun.

Ummmmm.... Resident Evil 4 is out for PC, but the whole use your keyboard to aim thing.... or you could buy a gamepad... either way...

And FEAR Extraction Point is out...

And Might and Magic: Dark Mesigah is availivle through steam.

Hope that gives you some idea's

HL2 and HL2 Episode 1. Far Cry is kinda old but still very good. Max Payne 2 is good, but its not 1st person. the third person view is kinda good though. oh and another vote for Condemned.

    Hi,

Thank you for your suggestions! Had a look at Condemned, sounds really nice, but in Germany it is banned unfortunately.
That means, it may be sold, but not displayed ins stores and because of that hardly any store sells it. So I'd have to see if I could buy it via internet.

With STALKER I think I'll wait until it gets a little cheaper. I'm not really sure if I'll like it. With FEAR: XP I'll also wait a little so I have a pause from FEAR anda little more diversion

I think Doom3 could be a good choice.
HL2 would also be an option. HL2 Ep 1 is the sequel of HL2, right?

I think I'll go into store tomorrow and have a look what they've in stock.

episode 1 is like a part of hl3 (it took so long for hl2 to come out they decided they'd break the next one down into episodes if i remember correctly) but i loved hl2 and im sure the episodes are great yet have yet to buy them :(

EDIT: if you are really into the horror/fps kind of games try and find Silent Hill 2 online (it's probably fairly cheap) but i must warn you it isn't an fps but incredibly deep in psychological elements (just my 2 cents)

    1. Half-Life 2 is the BEST single player first person shooter on the market now. In fact, I, like many other gamers, will go as far to say that HL2 is the BEST PC game to be released in the past 7 years. An AMAZING story, AWESOME graphics, GREAT gameplay and a not too hefty price makes HL2 a no brainer. If you turn down Half-Life 2 you are missing one of the best gaming experiences of the decade.

    2. Probably the best non-tactical online multiplayer shooter for the PC right now is the original Halo...its only like 20 bucks too. Good graphics when the settings are all turned up, simple but memorable online gameplay and a ton of game types and map selections.

    3. While far from a "brainless fragfest" Battlefield 2 (and its futuristic sister BF2142) is in my opinion the most engaging and in depth online multiplayer FPS out there. MASSIVE maps, HUGE amounts of weapons and maps and a HUGE online community makes playing BF2 online like being part of a big happy fraggin family. Its also got awesome graphics and the ability to fly planes and helicopters! Oh yeah and the mods are great too...

*sniff* Half-Life 2 was a great experience... I think I'm going to go back and play it again.

ahhhh, yes it was. I have never felt that way in a game before, although the original Half-Life had come close.

I almost forgot...if you don't mind dated graphics, the original Half-Life is also a great game

It was very similar to the recent game, "The Darkness" in that it is a very visceral experience. I haven't played a game for ages that has really made you feel that you are in the body of the protagonist... Running around Shivving prisoners and doing quests, it was an absolute blast!

yeah, same company. The darkness looks like it's running on a new version of their (gorgeous) Riddick engine.

Personally I prefer the outer-space-prisoner theme to the American-Italian-possesed-mafioso theme.

I totally recommend Battlefield 2142, HUGE MAPS, LOTS OF WEAPONS, RANKS, and VEHICLES. Pretty good graphics as well.

If you do get F.E.A.R Extraction Point, prepare for problems. Having experienced no difficulties at all with F.E.A.R, Extraction Point would not run at all on Vista Home Premium. I had to uninstall ALL my codecs (no video playing :( ), and even then it only got as far as the end of the intro sequence before stopping. I still haven't got it working.

Whatever they did for the add-on, SOMETHING is different to the original game.

Not that you were sleeping on the job but... lets say... your time has come.

Agh..... good times. To short of a game though. You could go through it in 10 hours. But episode 1 ARG that is challenging, i have spent like 6 hours on it, and im still not close to finishing.

    Hi again,

got myself Doom3 today. They didn't have FEAR XP (only a bundle with FEAR itself), and HL2 was pretty expensive compared to internet prices. But I'll defintitly go for it later.

    @MrWhereItsAt
    I have Win XP Home.

Wow, you must know the game down to a fine point then. Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are 15-20 hour games the first time through.
